Ok, so my task is I have a TON of keywords on very specific words, can you create multiple ADS within Google Adwords tailored to a very specific keyword only, and do this for say, a couple hundred? So in the end I would have a couple hundred ADS for 1 or 2 specific keywords. Can you do this, will it be hard to manage, does google allow hundreds of ads just for 1 or 2 keywords?
I can't remember the number of ad texts you're allowed per adgroup, but I'd suggest probably trying to find an alternate structure for your account. If you have lots of keywords, and you can categorise them, I'd recommend having plenty of adgroups with different ads in each, targeting each set of keywords specifically. You can organise this pretty easily using the Google Adwords Editor for Windows. Alternatively have you tried keyword insertion? Or maybe you could start with just some ad texts, and then refine them to try others over time. The CTR and performance of an ad is an important part of your Google Adwords quality score, so having lots and lots of ads is just not going to be effective. Generally speaking I'd recommend that your campaign should have a few thousand keywords (variations on match types, variations on terms), arranged into 20-50 adgroups, all with 3-5 ad texts being tested at any one time. Obviously every campaign is different, but as a general rule I'd say that proportion works well for most.
Another thing you can do is put all the keywords in same group and see which ones get a lot of impressions/clicks. Take those keywords out and create separate Ad Groups for them. It is best to group similar keywords together. So if you have video downloading on your website, then one ad group should be setup with these keywords. "Download Video" Download Video [Download Video] "Download Videos" Download Videos [Download Videos] Maybe even throw in "Download Free Video" Download Free Video [Download Free Video] An Ad Group like this will perfect very well as long as your ad text is good and landing page is good. You'll find that a few groups like this will be driving most of the traffic and conversions.
To answer your question: There is a 2k keyword limit per ad group, 50k limit for the account. That said, I never recommend using that many keywords in an ad group- just because its too hard to keep your targeting tight with this many words. I actually recommend keyword lists as small at 10-20 keywords, but thats just a personal preference. Emanuel
