I'd be so happy if Sydney banned the hijab - it scares kids and poses a security risk - we're not a Muslim country.

Absolutely. Howard, our last PM, made the call for Muslims who didn't wish to adapt to get out (regarding Sharia law) and then Rudd made the larger statement concerning the language and culture.

Howard was Liberal while Rudd is Labor - I'm glad both sides agree on the issues

 

He's also asking for the population to be increased to 36 million.

It would be even more awesome if they weren't so racist. Everyone from their government to sports teams are racist. It just comes out more strongly against Muslims as they have some legitimate reasons to not like them.

 

Ummmm Helvetti, usually I agree with you 110% - however in this case I must inform you that Australia is not a racist country. We have more international schools than any other country (based on population, not on sheer number - obviously we're a smaller country than America,) and we have several days throughout the year devoted to celebrating the culture of people who have immigrated here.

We also, which I disagree with, have a very generous policy when it comes to accepting illegal immigrants; even those who really have no good reason to be here.

There are some racists everywhere, I can't speak for sporting teams - many sporting teams are racist - including the non-white ones. Racism goes BOTH ways.

As to our government, how in God's name is it racist? We give preference to people who are not native, white Australians! They are allowed welfare from the government and in some cases get TWICE as much as the rest of us, in every case they get more.

You really should come here or at least learn a little more about us before believing everything you hear.

(Sorry, as I said - this is the first time I've disagreed with you here, but I do - wholeheartedly - on this.)
