Absolute nube to web-building... and stuck :(

    i am using Routhost as my serverhost and am trying to build the site with Joomla, but the problem im having is on my main url i have an Index page instead of the Joomla homescreen.... where was i supposed to save the Joomla file to have it as the main URL?

    you need the joomla in your home directory ,

    if you have the index.html file it will display that one instead of a joomla home screen what you need to do is delete the index.html and if the joomla installation is on the home directory it should be ok.

    where would i find the index.html file? i saved joomla in the secure web thing i had to set up and saved it in the 'www' folder?

    Inside the exact same "www" folder there should be a default index.html placeholder file for your website. Delete it from there, make sure you aren't deleting index.php instead which is a "joomla" file.

    no i dont have that file for some reason?

    vti log
    vti pvt
    vti txt
    admin
    cgi bin
    images
    joomla
    vti inf
    postinfo


    any idea?
