The reason might be due to incompatibility issue of your plugins with the browser. Try uninstalling them and re-install them one-by-one and check which one causes the trouble! I guess there is nothing wrong with the browser as many of us have been using it... without any problem whatsoever! :)

Since ArsTechnica, Lifehacker and CNET all tested FF and show it's significantly faster, what do you say about that?

The topic is IE vs Firefox. Chrome is OT but, yes, Chrome is faster. However, FF will get separate processes for each tab in v3.7, iirc. We'll have to see how that changes things.

absolutely much much much better than IE. The bad thing about IE is it doesn't always obey the W3C Standards for CSS and HTML :p

Firefox is definitely faster than IE. The real advantage of Firefox is noticed (compared to IE) is when you open multiple tabs. For folks who do not browse net a lot, I guess IE8 is sufficient for them.

Also I noticed a limitation on the number of tabs IE8 supports - I guess its around 124 tabs or so that you can open simultaneously on a single IE window (which is sufficient for most users though). I think there is no limitation on the number of tabs you can open using Firefox (I have tried till 216 tabs so far).
