    Hi All

I use Google Toolbar with the Page Rank Option enabled but someone told me there's privacy issues with it? I don't want to disable it cos it's useful for looking at competition etc.

As per my opinion Google Tool Bar is free to use so there is nothing to worry...

If you are not comfortable using toolbar and your only purpose of it is to see page rank, then you can also use a plugin 'SearchStatus' with firefox browser! :)

You have an option to choose if you want to share your usage information to Google or not. You can choose No and use Google Toolbar without worry anything. If you are so worried about your privacy then you may consider the Firefox add-ons recommended by Rightman instead.

P.S. Whether you choose to accept it or not, your activity will tracked via other Google services such as Gmail, Adwords, Adsense, Doc, etc. :p

This is the better option, also try SEOQuake.

But as for privacy, I don't think Google is cheating in any way when they gather data from you, they usually making things better like showing results based on your online activities..
