Keyword density in short can be explained as percentage of the keyword repetition to the total number of words present in that particular page(home page or internal page).

For every keyword the percentage varies and this percentage is called the keyword density.

Keyword density is one of the major factors which have huge influence in a web site ranking in the search engines. Every website owner must watch out for this density factor.

Keywords are highlighted in the search results based on the keyword density of that particular search result. Keywords are highlighted based on the keyword density of that particular keyword on that particular page.

Keyword density when exceeds the normal level it is called keyword stuffing. Which is a bad thing or negative impact on the site.

Keyword density tools are available in various seo tools providers like iwebtools.com, seochat.com

This is true that fresh and unique content can play a crucial role in the optimization of the websites as well as keywords density also matter a lot. Because while focusing too many keywords on a single web page will really make it difficult for indexing and better optimization of the website.

This is true but at the same time it is also a fact that no one likes spamming. The content may be unique but it the keywords are used repeatedly in that content without relevancy it is worst. Using proper density is a must for successful optimization of a website.

Yes. keyword density helps to get high PR on Google. Keyword Density can also depend on how popular that particular keyword is. An unusual one used just as a small percentage of your content can get you higher up the rankings than one used a lot but is commonly used.

I use the free version of traffic travis and their keyword density checker doesn’t recognize special characters I use for dashes, apostrophe, etc. Their support staff also doesn’t seem to understand what I mean when I ask them about it. I see that some kw density checkers can handle these special characters while others can’t.

At the initial days of SEO, people around me told that keyword density should be between 6-7%. But slowly I realized that there is no fixed percentage for keyword density. If an article genuinely requires any keyword more than this value, then we should not ignore this just because we can't keyword density factor. Similarly, if any article requires to put keyword less than keyword density, then there is no need to put that particular keyword unnecessary times just because to reach keyword density.

Google keeps learning more and more about natural language. It is my opinion that keyword density shouldn't be more than 2-3% (as mentioned above) and that a smart move is to use synonyms. I think google understand synonyms and will eventually reward a site for "speaking" naturally. In a way, it's scary.

    No it doesn't

There is no 'correct' keyword density.

    Nope....

    Wrong.

Keyword density has no relevance to search engine placement. Write your content naturally and so that humans can easily read it & so that it doesn't sound spammy. By all means include your keywords in the text but don't worry about how many times they're there.

I think this is the closest I have see to coherent and relevant information. I agree that an article should be written naturally, with great quality content and should be informative. There should be a balance of keywords and content, THIS DOES NOT MEAN that you should have the same amount of keywords as you do content. NO, it means that density of keywords should have a natural flow. Some people say no more than 3 per cent, but I happen to think it is relevant.
