PR 2 with only 2 backlinks? What gives?

Hi guys,

I set up a new blog on the 7th March (last month) and was pleasantly surprised today to note that it has a PR of 2. This seems very strange to me as it only shows 2 google backlinks (though I know I have put a few more out there).

What else could be affecting it?

 

What is the PR of the pages which link to your domain ?
I had a site which got PR2 just with one PR4 back link.

 

I think your backlink its from PR4++

 

How many Yahoo backlinks do you have?

You've got links from pages with PR and low outbounds- that is the only explanation for getting PR with very few inbound links.

 

yes this will be the main reason for sure. also your navigation must be good.that has helped you

 

google doesnt show all the backlinks so you might have more links than you realise . have you checked how many yahoo links you have?

 

You never look up whole list of backlinks.

 

you could have more than 2 backlinks, it just didn't show up when you check it. try checking your backlinks from another checker.

Ah yes, google shows 2, that tool shows 1,500. Also, I suppose, I have nearly 1000 sig links on here and nearly 8,000 elsewhere, but I would have assumed those to be nofollow?

 

Great tool.. till yesterday when I got my 1st PR1, there was no backlink in google (link:site.com) but this toll show 7 and when I check it in google to confirma it was really showing.. thanks

 

Google never over estimate a web site so I think your site has the correct PR.

One Backlink with high page rank is enough to get good page rank. May be the site linking to you is having good page rank. That is the reason, you get good page rank.

 

I just used this tool and it shows 493 links, which is probably right but more than twice the number of any other tool I have used. Google webmaster tools for example shows only 32, whicle most others list 150-199.

Thats what my tool shows for PR breakdown and number of sites.

 

I have seen sites with PR3 without any backlinks. I have got a site which is PR2 with 5 backlinks

 

This is quite intrested. I note several other blogs with the same issues.
No Links but increase in PR

 

What does it matter? Pagerank is useless nowadays
