why make a facebook fan page?

Another question I have is why would people use fan pages for their business when they can simply make a normal account, that way it makes your job alot easier to add thousands of new friends, instead of hoping they click the become a fan link...

 

because you are limited with a "normal" account with the amount of friends you can have, as for a FAN page you can have i think unlimited friends and with a group page you can have unlimited friends but can only send out 5,000 emails out at 1 time using the group scenerio.

 

oooh ok, what is the limit of friends you could have with a normal page?

 

I am not sure about the limits but I have seen people over 5000 friends so I guess it is not an issue.

 

Can any one say its really worth for ?

 

via one person many people become fan of your page and you get considerable traffic from it

For promoting your business, you must use keywords/niche as urls, description etc for your business page, but keywords, business names etc are not allowed to use as username in facebook, so you can't improve your business through facebook's normal account. For this facebook has a separate feature for users to allow them to promote their business or anything and it's called fan page. I think there is no limitation allowed for number of followers/fans for a fan page.

but how do you promote something on the fan page? through discussion or you have space for advertising banners?

 

you can send updates to fans, which go through their newsfeed. Not really a place for advertising banner tho. Don't promote products in their. Users are not interested in buying things usually. They want news about you. That can bring indirect business, but that's all.

 

yes, this is a easy way to promote your business, get as many friends and then create a Fan Page and suggest them ..

 

limit of people is the key, fan pages may have over million people

 

1. facebook can easily ban your personal profile for business use
2. there are good apps to ad to fan pages (eg static fbml)
3. customised fan pages offer much more in terms of converting fans
4. you get statistics for fan pages
5. fan page numbers are unlimited
6. you can do "updates" just like a normal profile
7. you can register (nearly!) any facebook url without question
8. fan boxes are available for your website etc
9. fan pages are more viral than personal profiles

That's a few off the top of my head....I'm sure there's more! If you want to go down the profile route then doso with caution and be prepared for a ban - use the personal profile to build a fan page and be sure to have at least 2 admins on the fan page incase one admin gets banned.

One thing I have done is think of something that could get lots of fans. If you target women...maybe a fanpage of 'long plump eyelashes'.....go to your CPA account and find a free mascara CPA offer. Post that under the fanpage photo!!

 

Fb limits friends count to around 5000 , I'm not sure though .... Plus, Fan page allows you targeted status updates and mails, via Age, Gender, location etc. , Your fan page can be displayed on your website, and plus, It doesn't make sense that people would add a business profile as a friend !

 

Yep the hard limit is 5000 friends and I know lots of personal business accounts that have hit this limit and wish they'd made a fan page instead. But then again in some cases the person is the business, especially in some online blogs the face is the website so it makes sense instead of fan page

 

You can make updates on large groups, and drive targeted traffic (depending on the nature of the group) to any site you wish.
