I had talked about this earlier, not infractions but just to stop from posting. But one of the admin replied me back saying that it cannot be controlled by them. Everyone has a freedom of speech and write what they wish...
I understand the admin can't do anything about it but maybe a sticky note like "Do not worry too much about Google's PR updates unless you are trying to sell links" might help. This whole PR thing has caused so many new site owners (incl. me at a time) to get stirred up. They all see those PR numbers on other sites and are getting all excited and anxious to get their own first or updated PR. Things will settle down really quick once they will lose some PR but the traffic still will remain or once the PR went up but traffic goes down or in best scenario traffic stays the same. Also some SEO "experts" always kept saying the PR is an important factor for the SERP's. - Please Note: I said SOME "experts" - It might be one of the how many hundreds of factors but it sure isn't a really important one. Or why else would some low PR sites rank higher in the SERP's than some PR6 or higher sites? Cheers verdecove
You say it mate you say it. Useless posts like yours. If you are not interested in the PR update then why are you replying here? I know PR is not that important but this shows me if I improved or not in the past months. It shows if I gained quality links or crappy links. Please stop complaining.
Two of my sites went from PR 1 to PR 3 today... So unless this is an april fools joke the update was today... You should expect that your pr may not change at all...
Now how is that? search on Google "Home decor" and you will see: #1 homedecorworld dot com PR3 #2 potterybarn dot com PR6 #3 hgtv dot com PR7 and what does that tell you?
does it matter? your worried because they didnt send the update exactly 3 months from the last update? beside, when they do make a major update, it can typically takes upto 5 days for all sites to be updated. Dont worry, one day you will wake up, and see that your PR is changed...
I understand what your saying, but the strength/seo around the keyword "Home Decor" is different for each of the three sites. HGTV may be building around other keywords and homedecorworld is focused on being ranked first for keyword "home decor", then ofcourse they will outrank hgtv, but that will not be the case for every searched term....
I understand what you are saying too. I choose a really high competitive keyword phrase as an example, just to show that PR isn't everything to be high in the SERP's. I still think too many ppl on here are putting too much in PR instead on trying to focus on optimizing their keywords. I once was under the same impression and was thinking a higher PR will also guarantee me more traffic. Wrong Thinking! I learned it the hard way. Is the article submission site your site? I like it. Bookmarked!
100% agree. People here do waste a lot of time focusing on PR, and as you mentioned they should focus on optimizing their keywords, and the PR will eventually follow (if PR is important to them) I think most individuals that start out fall under the same impression that high PR = more traffic, which is definitely not the case and over time they will slowly shift their focus on to more important things. It is my site, and thank you.
I believe PR still works, but that is only one of the factors in Googles Algorithm. Building Backlinks, choice of keywords, online content etc all contribute to your overall ranking in the search engines. When you have all of these I believe then the next step to becoming #1 for your keywords is PR. Usually you will find that PR comes after you have built backlinks, and are getting more and more traffic anyway.
Oh man there most be 20 posts a day on here about google PR this place should ban the PR from posting
uhm, you can't say "don't care about PR". Do you know that most of the site care about PR when they want to exchange link with us? If you got PR = 0, even your Alexa is under 100,000. You're nothing. So PR is very important but don't make the same thread over and over again. Next PR is probaly coming soon, so wait for it
Tells me nothing... For one... HGTV maybe not be focusing on those keywords so they don't rank high for them.. Check this out: homedecorworld.com - PR3 - Alexa Rating - 313,864 potterybarn.com - PR6 - Alexa Rating - 4662 hgtv.com - PR7 - Alexa Rating - 1311
