It may not even be penalized. It may be a normal fluctuation. I would keep a close eye on it over the next week and see if it starts moving back up. I have had this happen a few times. I would suggest to continue your own link building efforts and throw in some social bookmarking. If your not back in a week or tw then you have likely been penalized. How long has it been since it fell?

I second that! Just wait a couple of weeks you should get your ranking back. If not then check your outgoing links and check the changes you've made recently e.t.c did you change your meta tags/titles??
