in my webhosting reseller account, my sites went offline. When contacted my hosting company, they said they updated dns and told me to update the name servers at my registrar end. they given dns details ns1.mydomain.com - IP xx.xxx.xx.xx ns2.mydomain.com - IP xx.xxx.xx.xx What exactly should i do at my registrar interface? I have activated the free dns service in my doamain reseller account. wins
Find a new host. Changes in nameservers are massive changes and affect every single site using these nameservers. The host should be giving you plenty of warning about doing that and instructions on how to make the changes, not just doing it and you only finding out when your sites went offline. That's very poor planning and customer service.
Thanks RonBrown. Its my bad luck. They never given me any warning or instructions. But planning to stay with them for a while more, due to financial reasons. Can you hint me how to change the nameservers at my registrar end.
This process varies according to your registrar. I would suggest you contact them and ask the question, or, post who your current registrar is, and maybe someone can guide you through it.
It really isn't that difficult and as RHS-Chris say, the best thing is to go to your domain registrar. There is a good chance they will have instructions on their site about how to do it. Once you make the change you'll need a bit of patience as these changes will take time to resolve - anything up to 72 hours, although it tends to happen relatively quickly these days for most people.
Looks like you are using service from one of their resellers. Can you please share the URL of their web site?
