Hello all. This is quite an odd person that I've done business for two times now, and had a strange encounter both times. I think this could affect a lot of peoples business, as it did mine, and I am out money because of it. Now it's not a lot of money, but seeing that he would do this with just a small amount of money, you never know what the possibilities are that he may try this with a larger project worth a lot more money. I was hired to design a website for him, which is avante-media.co.uk - the design is up right now. He told me to begin the development and I finished and he agreed that it was good -- then he disappeared. He disappeared from the online world for at least 2 months, without paying me one penny. He then came online FINALLY and then paid me for the design. I then sent him the PSD as I should have, since he did pay for it. He sent me more money than I had originally asked for (about $20 more) because he felt bad for the delay. He then proceeds to apologize for the extreme lateness and said it won't happen again. Guess what? It did happen again. He paid me 50% for this design, since I told him that I cannot fully trust him after the last business engagement. He agreed to pay the rest once the design was finished. I finished the design and his words exactly were that the design was 'brilliant' so he was obviously impressed by it. He has disappeared once again, and this time I have given him about 2-3 weeks before posting this thread. I have warned him that I would post this if he did not return my emails or send the rest of the payment, so I thought I would warn you that this guy is not a scammer, but could be a HUGE delay in your business and finances. If anyone else has had an encounter with this person, or if Stephen is a part of this forum, I urge you to post. Are you sure the guy is the real domain/website owner? Where you emailing him at his corporate email address as a proof of his linking to that website? Chances are that you've been contacted by a person claiming to be Mr. Stephen McConville when in fact he wass someone contracted by Avante Media to do a job that he then outsourced to you.
Yes, as Clive said, are you sure of the guy identity ? Be careful with statements like this, if you are not 100 positive of his identity

About the guy in question, posting what he did to you is only a way to advertise him and his company. First thing I thought when I read your thread was, who is Stephen McConville? He very well could be somebody else, but the email address he was emailing me from was & (MSN Addy) -- and his PayPal email is and his message when he sent payment finally for the FIRST project: Honestly I don't remember making him two designs, but then I remembered I had created another for him. The other was for M&H Academy, not sure of the URL. This is the last time he said he was sending payment. This was for the first two, before he 'disappeared' -- message is on 12/29/09. Didn't get my payment until the 18th of Jan.
Wow, the same thing happened to me, start my work last year Nov and he gave me one,two updates and then just disappeared. Its really weird because he sounded like a nice guy. Here is his DP profile, haven't been online for sometime though that doesn't means he is not getting notifications. I have already sent him an email.
