Hi there, I am designing my first website and I am curious if I am allowed to copy and paste images from other websites to put on mine? Are there steps I need to take in order to be able to copy and paste those images?

Short and most probable answer to that is NO, you can't copy and paste images from other websites to yours. What you need to do if you found an image that you're willing to use is contact the website owner and ask for permission to do that. A written confirmation is what you need to receive before you can use the image to avoid any kind of troubles in the future.

A better and much easier way is to grab images from places that give them for free and without copyright restrictions, or if you're willing to pay then you can check websites like istock photo, shutter stock etc. for royalty free images.
