Unlimited Web Space

There are lot of articles regarding unlimited web space hosting.
    Truth is that is impossible.

But if the hosting company service is great, that will be the best plan we can go with.
FYI my 7 sites are hosted with www.netaugusta.com who is providing unlimited space.
And their servers really 100% uptime for last 1 year.

You are kind of right... "unlimited" hosting is kind of a buzzword. Just about every unlimited hosting plan i have seen warns you about how your performance is decreasing because you have so many files. With that said though, under normal web hosting circumstances, most users don't come anywhere near exceeding what would be considered normal storage space for a website

It is possible to server someone with "unlimited bandwidth" however, if an individual or purposed company is claiming that on a cheap plan, I highly doubt that the service/server will be of value. If you do go with a VPS or dedicated server then you can consider getting a 5/10/100Mbs unmetered port and that is much more realistic.

Bandwidth has become cheaper over the years but still, it comes at a cost and any reputable provider is going to limit it whereas any "newbie" host is going to offer what they can to get your couple bucks a month..

I tend to agree with you but I think soon that will become a sort of market standard.

Personally, when I'm shopping for a host one the biggest criteria for me is good support. If the support people don't know what they are talking about I won't use them, despite how much space they are giving me.

If that is possible, can you imagine what size of servers they will have?

Unlimited is a sales pitch as obviously no one can seriously offer unlimited anything. The most important things are the reliability and level of support you receive.

Unlimited space is almost possible - even on web servers with only one disk. The use of multiple SANs make it possible to have what is effectively unlimited space (space you will never fill up) but it won't be provided to any single user due to the huge costs.

So, it is physically possible (sort of) to have unlimited space available but as a hosting customer you will never - ever - be allowed to use it, which then makes it impossible to truely offer it and mean it, so maybe it isn't really possible if you can provide it and offer it but won't let people use it. I'm completely confused now.

Yeah, and you are dumb as a doorknob if you don't think they will put a cap on you, true unlimited does not exist. Read the TOS of HostGator for yourself and see, it's a marketing trick and they will put a cap on you.

Some of the web hosting providers try to lure customers by claiming that they offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth with the hosting plans. Practically, it's impossible to provide unlimited disk space and bandwidth in the hosting industry.

Unlimited storage and bandwidth are possible depending on how the company is managing it. This is possible via Storage Area Network (SAN) as mentioned by RonBrown. One thing to note, though unlimited storage and bandwidth are available to the users, they will also need to STRONGLY understand that they are still being restricted by system resources (CPU/RAM). If a customer has to use 1TB Storage or 10TB bandwidth per month in a shared hosting environment, there is a high chances that he is hogging high amount of system resources, theoretically he is not suitable for shared hosting environment and will need to be moved to dedicated server environment.

I can certainly believe that HostGator has a very good bandwidth deal (1000+ servers) with ThePlanet, so providing unlimited bandwidth to customers is not much of an issue.

Unlimited web space as a size of files yes, it is true and it is not a big deal these days (only in the theory)
but unlimited web space as a amount of files (inode) there is a limit around 250k files per account (shared hosting).
Anyway, an unlimited web space is only a marketing slogan.
