I'm looking for a specific set of requirements. My budget would be under $1200 per month (CAD). Server has to be in Canada. No "offshore" and espescially important //NO US// - this is for legal reasons as required by my supervisors. Can't be on a network with spammers, warez linking, warez hosting, none of that crap. Server will not be sending ANY mail at all - you can block all mail ports if you want, only things open would be SSH and HTTPS (no port 80 or in/out mail at all). Need RAID1, at least 1TB of usable space, and 6600GB of bandwidth a month, gigabit port at minimum. Anything else is ..whatever. 2 IPv4 address, 1 /48 IPv6. IPv6 is a complete requirement, without it you won't be considered. Native only, multiple provider, no tunnels. Must be able to SWIP. One IPv4 must be blended transit, one IPv4 must be singlehomed. Private vlans. None of this shared vlan garbage. Willing to sign 1year+ contract.
For such requirements, i suggest also posting this on different alternative forums to get the best bang for your buck. Wishing you all the best in your servers hunt regards, Ryan
i might be able to find you one since i have conenctions with many server owners and sellers in many countries. let you know soon
Buddy, you are not getting me.. I checked with the biggest hosts for the canada, they told me that the IPV6 is not available with them , so i dont think anyone else will be selling this to you easily. You may get this if only someone can do this for custom things.. Anyways, if you are looking for any offshore locations for this config, let me know for that. Cause that will also solve your legal things. Regards
IPv6 is available at several places, just not the ones that can meet my blended/singlehomed transit requirement. It will not solve my legal things as the data has to remain within Canadian jurisdiction, I'm not trying to run a linkfarm in Russia or some crap.
Im not sure what its like finding such requirements in CA, however you seem to have done your research and still come up behind, so maybe you should look into colocation and byo connection/hardware? Datacenters Canada apparently have native ipv6, which is a start i guess. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
Colo might be doable but supervisors don't want to worry about hardware, dedicated = host replaces hardware, and depending on places, Canada isn't that small of a place and access to the hardware (+ remote hands/eyes costs) would be an issue if anything happened (read: i don't want to take a flight from toronto to vancouver at 3 in the morning if something explodes)
What exactly are you trying to do if you don't mind my asking. With all do respect these are some really crazy requirements, at least for the majority of what you will find lurking here at DP. I'd suggest you take a look at WHT as you'll likely find a more qualified group of people that may be able to cater to your needs. I'd be willing to bet 99.9% of the people here do not even know what you are asking for, much less would they be able to fulfill the requests.
Need the strange IP setup for bandwidth costs from Shaw/Bell (something about keeping it in their network for lower per mbps, I dunno) Fileserver-ish contact point (e.g. we upload to server, multiple clients pick up from server) - the office this is for doesn't have enough upstream to be uploading anything (uploads will be queued at night before everyone leaves and pushed out overnight). Obviously shared hosting or VPS won't be acceptable for this and it will be doing a fair amount outbound. (also yes, i've had several people attempt to offer me "netherlands offshore warez link allowed!!" as that's perfectly acceptable and in line with my requirements)
