How to create Google Sitemap?

How do you create a Google sitemap for a static website with more than 1,000 pages?

these are 4 steps to generate a site map;

1.Enter your full website URL and some optional parameters in the form below.
Press 'Start' button and wait until the site is completely crawled (the progress will be indicated)
2.You will see the generated sitemap details page, including number of pages, broken links list, XML file content and link to a compressed sitemap. Download the sitemap file using this link and put it into the "public_html/" folder of your site.
3.Go to your Google Webmaster account and add your sitemap URL.

This is very nice but better option is manual creation of XML sitemap .

I have used sitemapbuilder.net on static pages - puts out a perfect sitemap. It does give you options if you have duplicate pages, etc... to help fix issues.

I don't know why you would want to generate one manually like Sweta says, maybe Sweta could give a reason?? (Probably a service she sells)
