After the recent action of Google to not oblige with any form of censorship or restriction, this step was pretty much anticipated. But I wonder why would gmail be stopped?

Doesn't the Chinese govt. have problem with only Google SE... or are they looking to completely black out Google... lock, stock and barrel? :(

    Regards,

To be honest, Google will lose out by not compromising with the Chinese governments requests. China is the most populated country in the world, think of how much traffic Google are going to lose through this. Baidu stock investors will be very happy though. xD

I also had anticipated it, however gmail is working - not stopped, but it seems to be pretty slow than the speed which I had earlier.

They were already in a big loss because of baidu search engine being so popular among the locals, thatz one of the reason they backed out from the country. Ofcourse, no doubt the baidu stock investors must be enjoying their victory. But I think, its both a loss - loss situation in a long run.

No dear, please dont say that, even if they do, all the videos and international news will obviously be restricted in that search engine. The main aim of the government to stop the search engine was to not allow any locals to access the various youtube videos, tweets, diggs and facebook groups which talk and show examples which are against them.

So even if China launches a new search engine for International users, I doubt it will be allowed to have access for the locals.

I was really enjoying some free proxy till a month ago, but now they are all charging few dollars per month. :(
Its really riduculous, when the rest of the world can enjoy so many things alongwith some few bucks for internet connections, we have to pay for enjoying those things.
And you know what, I am really really scared if at all DP is blocked  what should do ???
There will be no other way but to access DP by some proxy and the very next moment I might get thrown out from here as the ip address changes :( :(
    Hope this never happens... !!!!!!!!!!!!

Because of threads like this that complain about the Chinese government.

Everyone in China knows that speaking against the government will cost you big-time. That is why it is so important for US citizens to appreciate and if necessary fight for, our right to free speech.
