Good managed server hosting?

I'm on the lookout for a good hosting company that offers managed dedicated servers for our websites. We need something pretty fast with quite a bit of memory, seeing that the CMS we use is pretty intense on server loads. Also I would like to see good backups from the comapny and they should be reliable with good support. Currently we are with 1and1 and they are okay, but I am sure there is better out there. We are running Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL atm.

Anyone have any good experience with other companies?

You may consider liquidweb. They are well known for quality support.
I had good experience with hostgator for shared hosting. Their dedicated service also must be good.

I just got the entry level VPS account with Liquidweb. I love their phone and e-mail support. But my VPS seems sluggish on MySQL sites and I'm thinking of changing to another host. I've barely got any traffic going to it because I wanted to make sure it ran well before I moved my busier sites as this was my first VPS..

I am currently with ThePlanet, whose support is at the top level
even their administration control panel for clients is very friendly
i would suggest you to use Theplanet.com if your are planning to buy a dedicate server

Yep $55 is too much, $25-30 is fine for cpanel/WHM.
