My best suggestion would be to install firebug on your firefox browser or download coda if you're a mac dude - just experiment with the CSS until you find something that you really love! Also, consider revamping that header. Remember, with the advent of Web 2.0 - SIMPLE IS SEXY. Tone it down, find colors that blend and avoid stark contrasts. Just my 2 cents!
