Maybe the title is bad, but i was told to be cunning to call you guys here... Ok, my site fxfisherman.com is ranked #1 for direct keyword "fxfisherman" search. Forex.com is also ranked #1 for keyword "forex", so do many other sites. My question is: Does SEs value domain name the most? Since fxfisherman.com ranks #1 for "fxfisherman". I want it to get to the top. Will changing fxfisherman.com to forexfisherman.com help the ranking for search about "forex"? Thanks!
And who is going to search for fxfisherman??!! Results 1 - 44 of about 501 English pages for fxfisherman. Results 1 - 1 of about 4 for forexfisherman. Wake me up when you rank #1 for something with 501,000,000 results!!!
Results 1 - 100 of about 7,990,000 English pages for digital point sucks. Much better than a few hundred results!!!
Really? Must be the domain name then, cause all I got is a couple backlinks from this forum. correction: 4 links from the site sift forum and my own
Hmm, Google shows DP and v7n, while msn doesn't. But now that I have your pic on the site, it'll be linked to by freaky webmasters from all around the world
Seriously though, who is ever going to search for fxfisherman. By the way, i rank number one for "project4hire" too.
Personally, I don't think keywords in your domain name is really necessary. They help, but are not imperative. You don't need to change your domain name to rank for a certain keyword. I rank in the top 10 for most of my keywords in all se's and none of these keywords are in my domain name, only in my anchor text and on my website. If your site is about forex and you want to rank for that term, you will need to get lots and lots of backlinks with the keyword 'forex' in the anchor text. Of course, you should always vary your anchor text. I mean you don't want 10,000 links all with the anchor text forex since that would not look too natural to the se's. So, mix it up a bit.
One of the sites rank #1 among 43 million results in a competitive market and keyword is not in the domain name. Though I guess it may help to have your keyword. The only good lesson I learnt is that comprehensive content is key. A better content than competitors will generate natural linking. All other things are just details.
Exactly, I rank #6 in google, and #1 in msn and yahoo for a keyword phrase with 83 million results and the keywords are not in my domain.
domain name has some effect, a little, but not enough to make you number one. Probably knowone in history had ever searched fxfisherman before you. So google says well fxfisherman.com would be best if it were that easy people would make keyword stuffed domains with like 6 hyphins (well some people do)
This comment above says it all .............. Try again with competitive keywords and see where you rank then
A lot of lazy readers around here. Please concentrate on my questions: My question is: Does SEs value domain name the most? Since fxfisherman.com ranks #1 for "fxfisherman". I want it to get to the top. Will changing fxfisherman.com to forexfisherman.com help the ranking for search about "forex"?
Oh man , you got some completely off-topic responses here... Anyway . I did a little experiment a couple of weeks ago , and registered parkourtv.com , and made it a domain alias of parkour.tv . For a few days , parkourtv.com was #1 for the almost completely useless search term "parkour tv" , it was #1 during a period when parkour.tv was still #3 . After a couple of days , parkourtv.com stopped appearing in google , but my parkour.tv domain got the #1 for "parkour tv" search term . I can't be sure , but I think that being an alias of a keyworded .com domain has improved it's ranking ... P.S for the lazy readers : the term "parkour tv" is -not- of any importance)
Out of curiousity, I checked the backlinks to your site and noticed that you only have a total of 29 backlinks. I think you have a long way to go to rank for any term other than fxfisherman. You really need to start a link building campaign with good anchor text and you will see your rankings start to improve. I also checked forex.com and they have almost 6,500 backlinks. That is the main difference here not domain name.
Thanks for lovely responses guys. I'll be testing this sometime with my domain vBulletinSeo.com. Add some contents to the site and don't get backlinks. One month later, check its ranking. Now there're 11 millions results at Google. Janet, I've just started building links a few days ago. I never realised how important backlinks were. I thought buying links was insane and useless. And, i don't know why backlinks dropped from hunreds to zero on some servers.
