turrant, I agree that PPC doesn't do as well for directories as for conventional sites primarily because semi-automated link submissions don't see your ads. But Adsense covers the cost of my server. You have any better idea to generate revenue?
The only problem is that not many people will click them. You could sign up to some affiliate programs or add an express listing plan for faster approvals. But then again maybe you might be lucky and get enough clicks to cover the cost of your server, good luck
