Im after either a site based program or a tool that I can use to check my backlinks, to see where they are coming from and what PR they are.

    Does anyone know?

I tried site explorer with seo quake, but i get an error on site explorer ;(

no one will show you 100% of your backlinks, not google webmaster, not yahoo explorer.. no one.

the best way right now is to try and use multiple sources and install "search status" for firefox. I open links im not aware of into a new browser to see their PR.

you could also purchase a Buzzstream account and track your links that way. But even for a paid service it seems to update slowly, and not always correctly.

The best tool currently right now in my opinion is Yahoo site explorer. It is not perfect but it is pretty accurate for my site, and when looking at others it is pretty accurate for them too I find. It brings up much more than google and it does seem to update and change pretty regularly too:

Yes, download it and try. It´s free to use but if you want to save the data a paid version is needed. For checking the quantity of links, this is probably the best tool. Have you got the NoDoFollow plugin for Firefox? When searching your links on siteexplorer, if you have nodofollow turned on, it will provide PR and other information for all the links.

    Hope this helps

i think the biggest problem here is that webmasters are still weary of paying for a good service like what is described above. we seem to have this ingrained thought that we're entitled to it. I think if someone could build and host a tool that was very accurate a modest fee would be acceptable to the more serious webmasters and SEO's out there.
