True however in time that will grow. Just need to wait until more and more developers buy IPB and create mods or learn to code to create your own :D

I am thinking to purchase the Advanced 175 IPB hosting plan for my mini deviant art website.

They offer unlimited bandwidth wich is good for my affiliates and ads.

With IPB... I feel more like I'm on an iMac with the all built in stuff...

vBulletin i feel like I'm on a Windows machine where I have to search for drivers and stuff...

I don't honestly see why anyone would want ipb hosting
I like to have full control over my sites, hosting is cheap, no need to tie it to the software like that.

I pick VB. I visit about 15 webmaster forums and they al use VB. I am so used to it that dealing with different scripts is almost not intuitive now.

So as a user you prefer vb? Have you even been on a forum run on IPB?

Yes. I have seen few forums using IPB however most use VB or phpBB. I read somewhere that phpBB is the most popular one due to it being free and having thousands of installations worldwide but I still prefer VB. Better interface, more secure and easy to navigate and use. All forums that I visit use VB and it is a matter personal choice now.

You are right, its all on personal choice. I don't have a favorite. Right now I am running my forum on simplepress. As a owner, it gets the job done for now. However, as a user. I don't like at all. (maybe that's why my users rarely post) I am just waiting on one more payment to come and im grabing IP.Board. :D

The problem and good thing about VB is they have become like google of forum world (exaggeration pun ;)) most of the famous forums are on VB and so from the user prospective he/she knows exactly how to use it, where to find PMs and so on. But as an Admin, I am hesitant to put $$ on VB at least for the moment due to the way IB is managing Jelsoft. Secondly, with new pricing it requires quite a big initial investment. (long run it may come out cheaper though)

How is it cheaper? They even said they're going to rush out vBulletin 5 very soon just for money. They're the Activision (product milking) of Forum Software. That's definitely not a sustainable business model.

And why shouldn't they? They ARE in business to make money. They spend countless hours developing the software. They have to pay their programmers.
They have to pay their slavery taxes to the tax man.
If they didn't charge, the product would not be there. Those that do not want to pay, can always get the free forum software such as phpBB.

By rushing the software development. They are killing the product because they will keep releasing un-complete forum software and sooner or later every forum owner will move to another product.
