Its better and safe to add PAN card as soon as possible. Paypal may block your account if you dont add PAN and perform transactions

It is compulsory for every India to disclose their earning (if they are) to the IT department. And for it you need PAN card. Now from 1st April it is mandatory to mention PAN no. with every transaction. Since Paypal is registered in India they must follow the laws.
Now why other payment processors are not acting this way?
Because they are not registered in India. If you have ever received money in bank account from Paypal you will notice that they send by NEFT. Others send you by wire transfer. Thats Paypal charges less for bank transfer.
Remember Paypal is under Ebay which is a registered company in India.

Forget PayPal. Go for other alternatives like AlertPay. They will serve you better and now accepted in more and more sites.

i think the call for Pan card will make sure that there is no black money called for through paypal and all the income becomes taxable. As a government effort it is laudable and i believe it was required to make sure that things go on smoothly with all the people using paypal. Also according to the new budget schemes, a limited income annually will be tax free limited to 160k . Above that any withdrawals will be marked in taxable amount.

Today, I was trying to log in after around 2 months and now I can't even do that!! Is there another way to just LOG in and check my account details and simple basic stuff, without providing the PAN details, right now??

Instead of Pan card, we do have to register with an id of our own, which has been issued by the government in our country. But that id card is must to all the citizens soon after they start going to schools. Do you guys dont have such id cards ?

After you log in click on the Paypal logo on top left. And you better keep your PAN ready because they may make it mandatory anytime (it is already a must for opening a new account)

Thanks Rajanur for the tip ;)

Now about the PAN - Do we have to use a PAN no. of the name we used for registering in paypal? Or could we use any of the family members' ? Like father/monther(in my case)?
