    Hi Guys

I was having a look at the above directory an found that it uses no-follow tags on the listings, checked out a few of the listing, an true enogh , didn't find a single back link coming from them,

I was about to apply for a listing with them, but now I just wanna ask , is this normal,

Do any off you list with them

You will find this with directories and to be honest it isnt worth while submitting unless that directory has the potential to bring you good traffic.

Personally I dont waste my time with those type of directories.

From an SEO perspective it means you get no benefit

From a traffic benefit it doesn't matter

Personally I wouldn't bother as I have a theory that having too many links to your site with the nofollow either is or will be viewed by Google as a negative.

    Its up to you though

No they are not using nofollow, did you actually check the page source?

Not all links are nofollow. The title links are not nofollow.

    From the site:

    a href="http://www.jetsetradio37.com" class="site_link" rel="nofollow" title="http://www.jetsetradio37.com">http://www.jetsetradio37.com</a></p>
    Code (markup):

Both the title and the URL of the listings are live links, the URL is nofollowed (like the one you posted) while the title isn't.

Take a closer look. The anchor text (Title) link does not use nofollow. The url only link after the description does.

Yes, we do list with them - eWebPages Web Directory listing in Computers and Interent >> Web Directories

The price was supposed to increase on Sept. 1, but I see it hasn't yet. ;)

I checked several listings an what started this was that someone I know said that their link had dissappeared

If you list with them, okay do a back link check, then do further back link checks on other listings

Anyway, the simple fact is that I couldn't find any listings showing back links from them

Is their any reason why yahoo site explorer cannot find backlinks from webxperience, nor msn, nor google, nor any other system I could find

Anyway, do directories have a tendency of changing their poicy without telling any else first,

This directory doesn't matter to me , but it certainly got me worried about submitting to others,

I sincerely hope that you guys saying they don't use "no-follow" even tho they do , are correct

But the out come off all this is no visible back links

    Whatever their intentions

As stated above, they only use the no follows to avoid linking twice to every site. You still get a legitimate link so I doubt there is any change in their policy (and therefore notification wouldn't be neccesary)

Some directory owners will try to scam people with no follows but its still fairly rare (seeing as it is so easy to see and would discourage submissions)

If you are concerned, just get the no follow Firefox extension which puts a line through no follow links.

    Hi yfs1

I hear what you guys are saying an , I imagine you're certain of it, but do something , check yourself to see if you can find any back links coming out of webxeperience to any listing, then please tell me about it so that I can have a look, ,, then I an my pal can re check the back links

    everyone wins if you're correct

P.S. I don't use firefox, is there one for IE 6, an is firefox an essential SEO tool ? I never thought off that , thanks

There isn't one for IE as it they don't have the same extension system...Firefox is defiantely a wise move in general ;)

PS. You don't really need to have examples...See above for the explanation why 1 out of the 2 links are no follow.

    Indeed YFS1

But for that to matter, at least one off those links must show up on yahoo site explorer or msn, if none, absolutely, none off them are showing, then what ?

Have the no-follow tags been wrongly implemented ?

If you say the backlinks are okay gimme the URL of 1 listing I can verify

I'd say just don't submit to any directory that uses no follow tags ( same with blogs btw, don't reply to blog posts who have no follow tags on them! )

    Hi all

I still cannot see any backlinks from this directory, an they don't respond to the emails I've sent to them, does anyone know how to contact them , its probably just a minor issue,

Out of curiousity, why are you spending so much time on this one directory when there are thousands out there?

    Well, yfs1

I have spend about 20 minutes making these postings here an another 20 minute doing the back link check, total 40 minutes over the past 5 days, is that a lot to sort out a problem ?

Anyway, why ? because I geniuinely wanted to add my 10 sites to webxperience based on my friends submission,

And, its on the list off top 100 per alexa ranking directories, ergo, must be very popular with SEO's webmasters et al

And me an my pal are quite annoyed, perhaps you would appreciate that once you pay money for something, you usually expect to get it

And, I don't want no-follow links pointing at my friends site, SEO is hard enough without a directory telling google a link to your site is not trusted

Anyway, i am probably gonna give up on webxperience, their email doesn't appear to work, so as you said there are many others out there, tis just a pity , that such a promising directory is,,,,

    anyway ,,,,,,

Isn't nofollow used only by google ? I am pretty sure I have "nofollow" backlinks listed in Yahoo!
