I registered 3DIMING.com (3D Instant Messaging) today. I searched Google for 3D iming and there are already sites such as imvu.com that allow you to create 3D characters and IM with other people. I hope I made a good decision registering this domain. What do you all think?

You say you took it? I don't think so because I was looking at that domain today and it was available. I registered it along with 3diming.com.

You obviouslt havent read what your legal sytand is on this, it doesnt matter whether its Bluray, Nike, Compaq, Microsoft, IBM, if the name/word is a TM, thats it, you cannot use it to profit. It doesnt matter whether you see it as a brand...product...TM ..whatever

Buywiser, just check the hundreds of threads on it on Namepros and you will see, or even better , start your own thread on it and see what the actual laws are...Im not commenting on this again, its getting boring now

I allways tough Facebook is dumb & still think so...but saw Avatar on IMAX 3D and went 2times spending 17$each time! I LOVE 3D & everyone in the theater was amazed. Yesterday, I saw that all Warner Bros Blockbuster movies will come out 3D: So, really think it's gonna be the new norm. Why watch 2D when you can watch 3D...?

Ok then, why does BLU-RAY.com is being squatted for years and he's still up? Why is there 5 000+ domain name with DVD(it's a TM disc format: exactly like Blu-ray or 3DBLURAY) and they are still up? No domainers on any forum has been able to say the contrary... I'm not trying to do a polimique: just trying to say there's a couple of exception. And disc format is one.

ok i dont know if anyone knows anything about this but there is new technology concerning mobile phones specifically camera phones this new tech is called quantum dots and could make the current iphone into a 12 megapixel camera been reading up a lot on all this and it seems they are showcasing it sometime this week with the intention to start supplying at the start of the year with mobiles coming in middle of next year so reading this i have took a little gamble and bought a few domains for it you can read a bit about it here
    http://www.physorg.com/news188498546.html
    quantumcameras.com
    quantummobilephones.com
    quantummobilephone.com
    quantumcellphones.com
and another two thats actually mispells i figure these will be good also
    quantammobilephone.com
    quantammobile.com

might turn out a waste of time but for the few bucks i am willing to risk it :)

Go and check whether DVD is TM'd, then go and check whether Blu-Ray is TM'd, you will see the answer

What makes you think Blu-Ray.com is being squatted on, ever thought maybe thats the TM holder, but if its not, again I say, does that makes it right.

All you have to do is check, if its TM, dont reg it, this is not hard to follow, if you do, make sure you dont profit from it, thats all

    I like that since I have 3dhandhelds.com

    I just picked 3danimation.info
    30k exact searches already.

    Getting nice traffic to 3dhdled.com
3d tv's gaining some nice ground in the market. Like where evrything is going.

Worth no good. 3D Radio Station doesn't make any sense to me (same with 3D steps).

Who said they were squatting on the domain?

Yes your right, there are exceptions. But unless you know for a "fact" that an exception exists, or have written permission from the TM owner, then the warning by gilescoley about being careful when registering TM domains should stand. Its good advice.

As for the Blu-ray disk association (BDA)... well they probably have a mutual understanding, or maybe the domain owner is somehow involved with the BDA.

The BDA don't actually own the TM "Blu-Ray" someone else does... BDA own the TM "Blu-ray Disk" as well as the domain www.blu-raydisc.com
They are also a "Non profit organization" that operate as a "mutual benefit corporation", which means any manufacture can use the technology and the Blu-ray disk branding to produce and sell Blu-ray players. (so long as its mutually beneficial)

Just because a name is trademarked, doesn't mean all is lost. Getting permission from the owners of the TM and operating within the guidelines, can be a win win.

For starters, its not DVD, its "Digital Versatile Disc" (it used to be Digital Video Disc). DVD is an abbreviation, just like VHS is the abbreviation for "Video Home System"
DVD is also used as the abbreviation for "Dissociated Vertical Deviation".

    But the main reason is...
Current Status: A cancellation proceeding has been filed at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and is now pending.
    and
Disclaimer: NO CLAIM IS MADE TO THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO USE "DVD" APART FROM THE MARK AS SHOWN

Seems only the logo is TM'ed.

    Cheers
    James

EDIT: Just added 3Dinsight.com to my list.

no feedback on the quantum dot tech for mobile phone cameras :(
thought someone would ave good or bad feedback
maybe not as big a deal as 3d but if released into mainsteam phones it will be huge imagine having a mobile phone with a 12 megapixel camera,i know this is off topic but guys i value your opinions :)

I did read about it when the company (I forget the name) announced that they had a consistent/stable way of implementing/applying it.
From memory, they said they are not going to license the tech used to apply it, but plan on making their own sensors to apply it too, then sell the sensors to the manufacturers. That may slow things down a bit, but if they really can do what they claim they can do, it will be big.
In my opinion, until the pinhole lenses used in most phones get a lot better, it won't be targeted at phones, but other cameras with better optics that can handle the increase in mega pixels.
