Hi guyz, M planning to work on my new project which is social network such as facebook and others. Its not just another facebook, i have some specific ideas which i'd prefer not to discuss here. But my main questions is, i have never outsourced any development and SEO work in the past. I just want to get a rough idea about expenses for following things: 1. Script / site development 2. Seo 3. Marketing I'd really appreciate ur answers, just give me rough idea so i have some estimation in my mind.
1. Script / site development - Hard to say and really depends on what you want the website to do. A general figure would be between $5,000 - $150,000 2. Seo - It depends if you go with an SEO Company or do it in house. A good SEO Company will cost anywhere from $5,000 - $15,000 per month 3. Marketing - This question really cannot be answered. It depends how and where you want to market your website.
One thing I have learned in this world is to not re-invent the wheel. There are many facebook like scripts that you can purchase at low cost or get for free. You find the one that best fits your needs and then have a template developed. A good programmer will also be able to develop you any special features that plug into your script. So no need to create an entirely new script. Find one and mold it to fit. This will save you major money. As for SEO, The cheapest way you will find without doing everything yourself is to hire a consultant to develop you an SEO/SEM plan. You can then hire out certain tasks adhoc. So one person may be your person for gathering backlinks while another person creates and maintains your social networking status. You supply the list of tasks and pay upon whatever goal is achieved as "you" seem fit and have agreed to. So you are not doing the leg work but managing the leg work. In other words you are working smart and not working hard while keeping the reputation of your site in your hands. Marketing: as mentioned, that cost could be in the millions if desired.
It really depends on your keywords like smindsrt mentioned. It can be very costly if you're targeting highly sought after keywords. Your best bet is to shop around.
