Look friends, in my opinion, all this news about hacking to Google seems to be fake.

Google does not want to admit it publicly, but they have been dragging the losses of google.cn for quite some time now and had to draw a line for it, so they did by creating some news. Chinese Government really do not care about their locals as they have to maintain their secrets and dictatorship. A year back they stopped blogspot, facebook, twitter and many more, now they might also stop gmail and google.

It really does not affect China, as baidu has already been emerged as the most visited search engine site for the locals. And who knows like all the other goods and services, China might come up with some search engine in the future which they might launch internationally and compete google. lol !!!!!!!!!!!

We normally love bashing the BIG G for all their monopoly and search engine power, but today I am PROUD that Google has stood up for human rights, even risking financial losses that could well be in hundreds of millions of $$$ . Well Done Google !

Censorship is bad. I believe google is taking a stand in their beliefs, and in American beliefs. They are going to tick off a lot of politicians in China, but what is done is done.

free Internet is a better choice for China's users. This move will doesn't affect average users, but what about academics and business people? Baidu and other local search engines are far less successful at searches in English.

Maybe people don't realize that Hong Kong is part of China.
One country, two systems, actually, Hong Kong being part of
another system, but still part of China. So, google is not
technically leaving China, but closing the .cn search engine,
as they did not want to censor results.

Keep in mind also that many, many people in China are able
to get the internet without Chinese intervention. A rather
easy thing to do for those wishing to.

You are also forgetting the region of Macau, also under a different
system. Different system, same country, however.
