IS it possible to create 12000 backlinks in just 2 month.. I come across to one of my competitor whose site is only 2.5 month old and in yahoo site explorer it show approx 12000 backlink..

After checking the link I found that maximum are coming from his own other blogs where he has add a lots of link to same in blogroll..

is it a right ay of link building , if not then will search engine will ever notice it ?

too many links from sites hosted on same server is not good. If you are using the same anchor text

It's definitely possible. A good linkbuilder can easily build that many links in a short time. The key is getting sitewide links from a LOT of different sites. The numbers add up quick. However, sitewide links may make the backlink # skyrocket, but they don't really hold too much weight as far as rankings.

A knowledgeable link builder can build that many links up very fast with certain tools and they may have built up their own link network from all their websites.

They may have also outsourced all their link activities.

There is even software for scraping and posting to blogs and other platforms and sites where links can be left.

I had a site that had about the same, I fist set the domain as a free proxy and left it to run on its own and then I changed it into a normal website, worked well to be honest

With certain blogs, one post will somehow result in 100's of backlinks; I made one post on a forum and over 500 backlinks showed up in yahoo. I'm sure someone can explain why - it's beyond me. I also don't think they're worth much from an SEO standpoint, though.
