Non-English anchor links on Engish pages

    Hello, what do you think about linking from English sites with non English keyword to a site which is also non English, and ofcourse the site is hosted on American/UK servers. You think this has the same value of strenght like linking from the sites with the same language ?

    If the linking website has nice PR and it is not in english ( say it is in Portuguese ) and it links to you in Portuguese then I guess it must give you an eqaully good benefit, as it is a lot much natural backlink.

    I think it has same value due to anchor text also in non-english language.

    If the website is English but the link anchor text is non English ( doesn't matter the destination website is English or not ) it is surely fishy. It clearly indicate external influence and must surely be penalized by Google. No one who writes in English will post links in other languages. It is not natural. Avoid it to the best.
