Is my Host Slow?

I use hostmonster here is my webpage - http://www.gamesphinx.com/

Some of my game page links are a little slow to load when you try to play a game. I'm wondering if it is the hosting. It has seemed very sluggish lately. Can anyone verify this?

Yes it almost take me 18s to load your site not counting the time to load the games.

Is your game is hosted at HM?

I certainly suggest you switch host. It took me 30 seconds to open your site. You need reliable hosting, I'm surprised hm has slow speeds like this. :/

I'm wondering if its my script though. maybe there is an error somewhere. It use to run fine. My time on my account is running out and I'm over the file limit that is suggested. What if I stuck with HM but upgraded to the Private IP for 10$ more a month. Maybe that would fix it.

I'm very tempted to just redesign my whole website and not use a script and just do static html and make it really dedicated with more fun games rather than just a huge list of games, I would also design it for 56k users because when you make a page for 56k it loads very fast and is very nice and usually user friendly.

Why don't contact your current web hosting provider and ask them about that problem directly?
I think they will be able to get you some useful suggestions. Good luck

Run a website speed test at http://www.iwebtool.com/speed_test (add multiple sites to compare speed)
You can also ping your website's ip to check the response time.

Also make sure to select a server location that will maximize the loading speed of your visitors.
ex. If you visitors are from the UK, they would have better speeds on a UK based server.

Your site load OK for me when I visited it just now, so it may just be the time of day which might point to a slow host but you need to make sure your site is performing the best it can first.

When you're desiging for 56K the recommended page size used to be to aim for around 35K. Your front page is over 1MB in size with 66 images some which are low-res thumbnails but over 25Kb in size, and there are 8 external scripts. All these contribute to loading times.

I don't think you'll ever be able to achieve optimization for people connecting at 56K as your page - as it stands - would take them over 2 minutes to download. There is room for optimization, but even if the page was static I don't think it would make a huge diffence to the overall page size.

Ty yes I know this, They were having technical difficulties for a couple days when I posted this and they didn't tell me and it wasn't listed in the control panel until now. As far as optimizing for 56k, I use to do this all the time, and I probably still should. But how many people using 56k or even 112k are going to be able to download a 5-10mb flash game and wait for it to download?

Maybe some, but I know I wouldn't and most my games have video advertisement so they take even longer to load =/.

Thank you but I am still considering switching hosts I just needed confirmation.
