It looks like they're saying it's just a rumor, and there are no plans for microchips. On OpenCongress.org it says, "it establishes a registry designed to gather data on the effectiveness and safety of the most highly-regulated medical devices."

You guys need to get to work on preparing your November 2010 and 2012 campaigns on how you plan to repeal this.

I'm keenly interested in what your slogan will be for repealing no pre-existing conditions and the tax cuts for small businesses. Also how you plan to get teh president to sign it if you get it done before his second term is up.

I don't believe that educating yourself on all sides of this story is EVER ignorant. Hype is not always without purpose. There is surely "hype" on both sides. The truth is that in 1990 pages of that bill, no one really knows what has been done. I guarantee you those voting didn't read it. Educate yourself and be prepared so that you can recognize the warning signs should our freedom disappear completely. That, my friends, is to DENY IGNORANCE.

I find it highly unlikely this can be repealed, though there is a good chance the Senate reconciliation can be blocked or at least delayed. Right now, 38 states are challenging the constitutionality of the individual mandate. I'd give the SCOTUS a 50/50 chance of finding against the legislation, which means at least part, if not all of it could be overturned by the SCOTUS.

Legislatively speaking, the 500 billion in Medicare cuts and 220billion dollar doctor fix still has to be voted into law in separate legislation, presumably by another congress. If you think the protests were bad on this legislation, wait until congress tries to put that through. Just those two items, bring the cost of the bill to 1.7 trillion dollars. No, what will more than likely happen is that Republicans will promise to gut this bill if the SCOTUS does not. Specifically, they will target the individual mandate. They will also likely promise Tort reform, preventative care coverage, and other things to actually reduce cost of health care and health insurance, instead of enriching the Insurance companies by subsidizing and adding poor people to existing plans. The exchange is likely here to stay, and I suspect that is a good thing.

Obama is counting on the public being fickle and forgetful, and he'd be betting with the odds on that one. I'd normally agree, but I've been around a while, and I've never seen middle class America pissed off enough to march on Washington several times in one year. It will be interesting to watch the polls over the next few weeks. Congress is already polling lower than at any time during the Bush admin, and I suspect its only just begun.

Very presumptuous. Knowing how the Republican machine works, I wouldn't be altogether surprised to see Impeachment charges brought against him if the Republicans take over both houses. Stranger things have happened.

Blogmaster, have you ever been abducted by aliens? I'm quite familiar with the topic and you sound like an Alien abductee. I'm not sure if you were aware of this, but Al Gore is completely aware of these abductions and endorsed them in exchange for alien information on global warming. It was all negotiated in a meeting setup by Tom Cruise early in the year 2001.

Ja, we never seem to get rid of laws, we just pile more laws on top of them as if we were trying to hide the old ones under the new ones.

And what happens if those don't pass? Hmm...

Unfortunately, the Republicans have a history almost as bad as the Democrats as far as keeping government in the government box. :(

We need a "Contract with America" that includes death penalties for legislators who break it.

I think you're right and it's pretty safe to bet that the American people will just continue to take this abuse. I'd like to see some real change in the American government, but I don't think it's going to happen during my lifetime.

Surprised to read such ignorance from you, Obamanation.

But go ahead and let me know which part of

is not talking about an implanted device.

Here is a comment I just received:

More and more businesses will suffer and more and more will be pushed towards the public option.

So how do you control the masses?

I must not be doing my job right then. I pride myself on ignorance and idiocy.:p

Why don't you provide me a quote from the Senate bill that is now law which makes mention of mandating implanted devices. When you can do that, I will say you have credible evidence.

Now I'm angry with you because, in this particular instance, I am going to have to agree with your paranoid delusions. Just looking at the numbers, I would predict that insurance premiums will rise for most in the US, even after mandated coverage gives the insurance companies over 32 million new young and healthy customers and over 2 trillion dollars in govt. subsidies. When that happens, the Democrats will use that as the obvious reason the evil insurance companies need to be eliminated in favor of a public option or single payer. Did they do it on purpose? Is it all just another step towards their stated goal of govt takeover of health care? I'd say yes, but in this case, all the evidence points to it.

Statistics show that a healthy economy has more to do with low crime rate (keeping the masses under control) than police in the street or laws on the books.

Blogmaster, the article you linked was largely based upon a forum message from abovetopsecret - *the* place for tin foil hats. You've got to treat any claims coming from there with a heavy dose of wariness. A little bit of research would show that the bill does not mandate chip implants. As others have said, it is discussing a registry for implant devices. I'm sure the TSA would love to be able to cross reference it when screening folks at the airport, and it may or may not be something to get feathers ruffled, but it's not on the same level as mandating implants.

Where is your insurance at? Anyone else find it hard to believe that 4 health insurance policies can be purchased for $6K/year, much less for $3K? 10 years ago when I was single my premium was about $3K.
