    I'd rather go on 3D.Alaska.com :D

I don't believe that the "3d" in a domain name will catch on to a spectacular degree. It isn't that big of a deal. If I was searching and wanted to get 3D, I'd rather go on a website that has content in more than one medium.

In the case of 3DAlaska.com and Alaska.com, the latter will continue to be stronger.

Really Giles?....whattaya think - you can just throw '3D' in front of 'movie' and it's got potential??... not a chance
    ... I have a better idea
... Try throwing some words in front of the word 'monopoly'.... THAT's when the BIG BUCKS start rollin in
...as for this whole '3d' thing... I just don't see it happening
    :)

This could be a pretty good 'Sports Training', online type facility (if there is such a thing) .. with trainers teaching agility drills and fitness regimens and such... name is quick and catchy too... nice job on this.
    :)

    - - -

... i also wanted to drop a new one on ya that i thought made nothing but sense and has a fairly high industry CPC - like $4.50 a click for the exact term.

    • 3dAffiliatePrograms.com

Looking at some past sales, it seems anything with these words that make sense, sell for no less than $500 and up... (affiliate-programs.net just sold for $999 (this march 4th, actually), affiliateprogramdirectory.com got $500 in April of '07, pokeraffiliated.com got $1,000 in '07... list goes on - for more, you can see here - http://www.estibot.com/sales.php?a=search&data=3daffiliateprograms&type=flexible+domains)

    'Affiliate Programs" gets 60k/month

will also be something very sought after by many people on this actual thread at some point, am i right?
    :)

This could be a HUGE proft center if setup properly
... most programs offer 5% referrals for life on all member you get to register
... meaning, if i refer someone to 'X' affiliate program and they sign up to be an affiliate marketer with that program, i would then get 5% of whatever THEY make for as long as they are an affiliate... multiply that over some numbers and your talking some good money. Everyone goes NUTS trying to setup websites with affiliates on them and we sit back, cheer 'em on, and get 5% ... not a bad deal, if i do say so myself... you could see WHY this has $$$ attached to it.

Anybody interested in working on this project at some point - let me know... very eager to share.

    • JOOMLA3d.com

... so many possibilities here as well

    Njoy

nice catch with the affiliate program one, it doesn't sound like anything great at first - but thinking outside the box and to the future, it could well be a heavy revenue domain!

I'm really far away from being hater... I just think this 3d rush is a bit ridiculous. Most of valuable ones has been already taken long time ago because 3d is not a new thing as well 3d tv was announced a good while ago. But well good luck to everyone!

    Tess record:
"Joomla - Downloadable software for the creation, integration, publication, management, and maintenance of content, namely, text, documents, audio, and video"

if i understand correctly, as long as i'm not creating software and calling it joomla - i will have no problems.. if i made a site that just showcased 3d joomla templates, i'd have no problems, i would be well within my legal parameters if i wanted to make a joomla review site showcasing 3d joomla sites - i would be fine... i'm not a software developer nor do i plan on becoming one or selling software - just not my thing...
.. but this trademark phobia is just a little much
... there are hundreds and thousand and then thousands more of websites with tm names that are well within their rite to post reviews, forums, showcase, sell, feature...promote.. etc.... having a TM is one thing .. but understanding the purpose of it is another.

if i wanted to make a pair of shoes called McDonalds - i COULD.. and i could even trademark McDonalds if i wanted to - but it would have to be applied to WHAT it is trademarked to, which in this case, would be shoes.

As you all have followed and read through these pages, i really do try and avoid tm names... i do my research and then make my own, personal judgement call on the issue because they have chosen to leave too much of a GRAY area when pertaining to tm domain names.

One major belief i have is this... if this was such a crime, why would the registrars be aloud to sell you those names?? .. to me, the argument ends there... i could then follow that with,, if this was such a big name, why did the company not buy these all up... not trying to be disrespectful to anybody personally or to any companies or anything like that... but there are lines we walk in life and some of them are gray.... this just happens to be one of them.

also.. there's THIS little ADD-ON to consider...

... everyone talks about trademarked... but i don't see the term "3dJoomla" trademarked or "Joomla3d" trademarked... i have asked this question a few times on this thread and got no response, but what effect does the trademark have when adding "3D" before, after or in a string of words? ... i don't see any mention of this under combined words either ...

.. this all comes full circle now, because at that point, i guess the issue becomes HOW is the name you are using being applied?.... let's say 3dJoomla.com - a Clothing site without a "joomla" logo?... i think i'd be fine... 3dJoomla.com - a site that sells hats - hats that only read "I LOVE OPEN SOURCE"... again, i think i'm well within the rules of trademark here.

These are just my thoughts on the matter, and as mentioned above, until they take these away from the registrars altogether, or at the least, hold THEM responsible for the sale of such illegal products, then they should be allowed to be bought, i'm sorry.
