Avatar was so popular originally because it was the next Blockbuster film by James Cameron. He had been on hiatus for over half a decade because in his opinion the movie technical/special effects industry had been lacking the innovations that were needed for his vision of a story to be properly developed for the big screen. The hype around a director not making another feature film until technologies innovations meet up with the directors visions of an epic occurance grasped the minds of the media and propelled the film into the big opening weekend it had. Hence, projecting it into one of the most grossing films of all time. Yes, Avatar is an excellent story, as is Titanic. However, being a great story alone is not going to gain much appeal if the media doesn't help pitch the story for moviegoers. The systematic approach that the movie industry played in advertising this movie helped create all of the energy around this film long before it was even watched out of the editing rooms. In my opinion, Titanic was an excellent movie of its time. I didn't like however, why Leonardo Dicaprio's character (Jack Dawson) held in the water beside Kate Winslet's character (Rose DeWitt Bukater), instead of finding his own board raft to float on. That was a big ship and he could have found a plank that was satisfactory for him to increase his possibility of survival. I know it was based on a true story. Yet, I would have liked the female lead to persuade the male lead to find a better means of survival. Yes, he didn't want to leave her to make sure she stayed safe. However, I don't see why he'd not find another piece of floating debris! Ahhh. Maybe everyone knew he was a stowaway on the ship or he did some crime' that the antagonists of the time didn't allow him to get to better safety. I don't know... but, I just don't see how the female lead didn't help the male lead anymore than what she did. Maybe she believed him when he said he'd be there and she didn't think much of anything else because the water was so cold. I don't get it though. Titanic was really a moving movie for its tragedy to romance appeal. However, what is the biggest tragedy... the fact that the male lead seemed to have loved the female lead exponentially more than the contrary? Or, was it for the theme of forbidden romance that was not 'allowed' to make shore and the antagonist of the cold ocean waters that would compel the two to alter there sense of love for the pain of survival alone? I don't know. Because I am compelled by the tragic ending for a love that NEEDED to last forever.
According to me people like titianic movie because this movie has best romantic love story ever seen.
cause human beings are always guided by LOVE and its the main subject there the drama effect always touches ppl cause of the empathy moment we all have in our souls
If you are talking about Popularity then Avatar is more popular then Titanic. Avatar break up the records of all time favorite movie "Titanic".
It portrays the best of emotions in life the feeling of falling in love and then getting torn apart by death, the times one enjoys in their life. The memories and how they remain preserved. There is so much more in that movie.
