Would I get in trouble if I bought a domain that is godaddycoupon.com and point an affiliate link to go daddy?

I don't see why it would be a problem.

yea it will be illegal. because you have godaddy in your domain and godaddy + coupons is a strong connection because godaddy runs business of hosting and domains and allows coupon codes so its bright as blue sky that you promote them with godaddy inside a domain name, that's not allowed.

Why don't you email them and ask for permission - otherwise, no matter what anyone posts, you are at risk.

Wrong. Google has taken action against a lot of sites - check UDRP actions - it's trademark infringement. Just because some people are getting away with something doesn't make it legal.

Its a violation, but if you'll email them, who knows, maybe you'll get premission, or atleast ask them to buy the domain from you at price you got it.

    Godaddy is a trademark..

I don't want to email them cuz they might want to take my domain.

I know if you try to register anything with the term "Godaddy" at godaddy, you will not be able to.

I used to own a domain with the word Google in it until a number of websites similar to ours had been taken to court for using the trademark, we changed our site name shortly after to avoid this kind of action. I wouldn't suggest you use Godaddy in your domain name personally, you can try and you might get away with it for a long time, but one day you might loose it. my 2 cents.

Any sites that have a registered trademark will sue you if you use their name in your domain. End of story.

Read Go Daddy's affiliate agreement or so. You'll find your answer there.

But as most people essentially said, not a good idea. They've taken action in a few cases if one searches
    around hard enough.

Thumbs up. Legally, its illegal. Godaddy has the reasons to take it from you for free. However if you can make a negotiation explaning that the site is used for Godaddy benefits you may have a chance. Some big service provider can be a bit lenient in TM @ Copyright terms if they see that its in their favor.

dont ever use trademarks in your domains unless you own the trade mark
maybe go for something more like DomainCoupon.com or HostingCoupon.com etc etc

This is another recommendation thouggh those type of domains will most probably be gone. Maybe OP can try shortforms? Like GDCoupon.com instead.

Best thing to do is email them.. But as long as you are making money for them in a legal way ( promoting/referring or whatever their site ) i dont think they will have a problem..

Using the domain Godaddycoupon.com would violate Godaddy's trademark. I would avoid all domains that involves a company's trademark.
