Well, such terms are pretty loose, and different people have different things in mind when using them. But in general:

Web 1.0 was the first generation of the World Wide Web: static html pages and links.

Web 2.0 is the social and interactive Web that is not only used for providing and finding Information, but also for more active communication and sharing. Associated with this idea are Wikipedia, Facebook, Youtube, Skype, blogs, podcasts, online banking, etc.

Web 3.0 aims to be a step toward certain elements of artificial intelligence. It strives to be more universally accessible (think hand-held devices such as phones and PDAs, online data storage and backup), user aware (think personalized search), location-aware (think gps, local search) and moment-aware (think Twitter and real time search, among other things) and to be, in general, more semantic and intimately connected and seamless with the world at large.

Thanks for that definition. So what exactly a Web 2.0 property. I know this is usually referred to as sites like Squidoo, Hubpages, or Blogger.

Web 2.0 is a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies which facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.

    Web 3.0
is the semantic web. The semantic web represents a shift from documents to data, meaning that data will be presented to humans and computers alike that can be manipulated in various ways. Most importantly, however, there will be meaningful links connecting these various sets of data.

Web2.0: This term was coined by Tim O’Reilly The information published in web2.0 world is very different from web1.0. There is a very high importance given on usability and sharing. The information published in Web2.0 world travels like wild fire, either partially or in full. Web2.0 world has less clutter coupled with easy retrieval of precise information and furthermore building upon that information and sharing it further. Widgets and Tagging are two important features of Web2.0. For a comprehensive information on web2.0, click here

Web3.0: To be honest, there are varied perceptions of what Web3.0 is. It is purely a word coined as the next version of Web2.0. One basic thing that everyone accept is Web3.0 will be a maze / network of application working together homogeneously. The users can do anything and everything they want from a single source on the web. There is yet a lot of time for Web3.0 world to arrive.
