What is the best e-commerce system?magento or zen cart or Prestashop? Now, I want to build a B2C website, I do not skilled PHP, then, what should I choose?
I have used magento to build my B2C website, but,I think it is a very complex interface settings. http://www.herbsnurse.com/
If that's the case, whatever ecommerce platform won't simply work for you. That's the basic skills at least you know. But you can always seek support and learn from tutorials. One good ecommerce to use is OSCommerce. There are multiple payment Gateway’s to choose from including (but not limited to) – 2Checkout.com, Authorize.Net, Paypal, etc.. Visit their site for you to find out.
It really depends on what you are trying to do and your technical ability. We use magento on all of our sites. I have had clients who use oscommerce and both work well.
ZenCart and Prestashop are easy to master. Magento is litte bit complexer. For a not skilled PHPer it's better to start from easy one.
I have to agree with LadySlipp3r's statement. Many times you will have to get your hands dirty with modifying the e-commerce scripts here and there, so you'll need some basic understanding of PHP. If you want to play it safe, and if you're using PayPal as your payment gateway, it's best to use the wizard that's built into PayPal's merchant tool to generate your online catalog. At least in that way, you won't be messing with complicated programming or database management.
I looked in to the majority of the leading platforms including OsCommerce, Zen Cart, X Cart, Prestashop, jShop, Magento etc. I decided to go with Magento as I felt it offered the best all-round package and looks great straight out the box. It also has a great community and some big companies getting behind it, so going forward I can only see it getting stronger from a development point of view.
Magento is by far the best all-round and the most flexible, the only downside is that it is a real nightmare to upgrade if you have a lot of modules installed
