Finally got the reply, no real help though.. So it seems the only solution for us is to change the name in the Paypal account..
I am wondering will they modify the PAN if we say that we have entered invalid PAN number by mistake and it accepted it ..? Has anyone did this mistake and notified them ..?
Dear Prabhu, Thank you for contacting PayPal. Upon review, I see that you already able to add your PAN number ending with XXXX. You may only see the last 4-digits of your PAN number in your account through the "Profile" link. On the Profile Summary Page, kindly click on the PAN link under the Personal Information column. I'll be glad to hear from you if you need clarification. Just give us a call at 1-402-935-2080 and we will try our best to give you immediate answers. Dear Indian Paypal Personal Members/Business Holders, Here is the updates about Paypal situation in India after stopping their Personal Payments in India. 1. PAN card details can be entered as I mentioned (because Paypal can only see the last 4 digits) Try this - for example Your PAN number is AZZPP1234D Watch the "PP" after first 3 letters and before the numbers. Change it to PD "your Initials" So the PAN Number should be like this AZZPD1234D 2. Cheque withdrawl will take upto 45 days (which was not mentioned anywhere on the withdrawl page) 3. Bank withdrawl will take upto 7 days max (it was 3 days earlier) 4. Personal Payments - they will update later and they are working on it. 5. Above all - they are working on fixing all the issues we have these days after the new regulations from our RBI and Paypal. 6. Soon we can expect Paypal customer support in India. Note: I have got this information from Paypal customer support executive, over skype (+18882211161)
if anyone listens to you and modifies their PAN so that it gets accepted, then they may land up in trouble If one modifies the PAN,then the number itself becomes invalid One has to check what will happen if we supply altered PAN number to paypal after April 1st And who told paypal can see only 4 digits .. Its for the protection and their policy that they mask other characters They need the full valid unaltered PAN card number since they have to supply them to RBI during NEFT transfer from now on
Paypal themselves said, PAN is not required for bank withdrawals as of now. check out other threads somebody posted a reply there.
We have the similar problem. Can we contact PayPal with an explanation to the cause of the invalidity. The issue is with our names, I have explained the same at another thread here - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1727523&p=13831252#post13831252 Thanks, Vijay
Please log out correctly and try it again may be it will work. As I have added my PAN Number to my New Pay pal Premier account without any problem It’s verified. Hope this section will not create any problem for me in future.
Whats next? Seems PP and RBI want all documents from us. We already verified our credit card, bank account, phone etc. Now they want PAN, may be they will soon require other documents such as Birth Certificate, Driving License, Plus2 Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Voters ID, Ration Card, Nativity Certificate etc.. I am joking, but I am sure they will ask some more documents in the future.. We Indians will give them what they want, because many of us dont have any other way to get paid...
when ur ready to give a bank all those docs then why not paypal ? i think paypal might register itself as a bank soon
PAN is not a document/proof which they want PAN is your Permanent Account Number which you must provide with the heavy transactions (for now, and any transaction after 1st April) so that the govt. can track your transactions as and when needed. Your PAN will be unchanged through out your life, you must provide it if asked while making a transaction. Also, the PAN should be added to your bank account, otherwise they will deduct TDS on your interest earning. I guess, same will apply with PayPal in coming months, they may deduct TDS if asked by Indian govt. Thanks, Vijay
