Yet the only nation to use Nuclear weapons in history is the nation that built them with the intention of never usuing them! Sorry, I'm not a pacifist or flower power person etc but when I see our respective leaders saying Nuclear is the way forward and then telling other nations they can't have it, I keep seeing the Mad Max films in my mind where the world is all but wiped out and those that are left fight over energy sources. If Nuclear is the way forward, lets atleast try and develop these installations jointly with nations that could cause a threat from weapon point of view if they had it. This tuff sh*t baby attiutiude to Nuclear power is IMHO more likely to cause wars than any threat of weapons.
I'm not sure I follow you. When has the US used a nuclear weapon in an offensive or aggressive manor? We have not said "nuclear is the way forward". We've been dismantling our arsenal for years, and have not built a Nuclear plant in how long? 20, 30 years??? If it was we would not be asking Iran nicely to stop. Doubtful. If a war is going to start, it is going to start because of several factors.
Hirsoshima (s/p?) Nagasaki (s/p?) So has the UK but every energy expert is nowaccepting that Neuclear energy os the way forward - or atleast the ones who are paid by the UK government, not sure about the USA but I assume its the same, good old Tony isn't allowed a original idea!!!
A-bomb, Atomic Bomb... Nuclear fission does indeed occur, but they are not quite the same thing. Also, if you paid much attention to history you would know that those bombs were developed to end a war and save human life. Both goals were accomplished a result. If it were the "way forward" the US would have built another nuclear plant by now. I think 1979 was the last time one was built, if I recall. After the 3 mile island (near disaster) we realized that it's not safe, nor is it a limitless source of power. The way forward is reducing reliance on energy all together by relying on the Sun, via solar power, cleaner burning coal, grassoline, etc.. I don't see anyone in the US championing nuclear power, or weapons. I've not seen anyone make that claim for 30 years! Perhaps more. Not in the US.
This is not uncontested - in fact, it is a hotly contested historical debate - but then, so is the debate over Japan's intentions from the close of WWI on, and what we did (or did not do) to avert war to begin with. Paying attention to history only raises the level of the debate, not closes it off.
The only way Iran will get attacked is if a nuclear device were to find it's way into Israel and the finger of blame could be pointed directly at Iran.
I think that is what it will take. Though many want to preempt that. The one good thing about the cold war was that on both sides we were not dealing with lunatics when it came to leaders. I have a feeling that even Castro wanted nothing to do with having missiles in his country.
I think Castro is an egomaniac, but not the lunatic that people would like to believe that he is. He seems very smart and almost logical at times in interviews he has given.
Hell, few people realize that had the US allowed Castro to play ball, so to speak, he would have likely been one of the best pitcher's in US baseball, and not an egomaniac leader of Cuba... Food for thought.
i dont think its gonna happen...US would of done it by now...and also they dont have the resources due to the afghan adn iraq war at the moment...well they do have resources..but it would be squeezing it...they already are spending so much
"The only way Iran will get attacked is if a nuclear device were to find it's way into Israel and the finger of blame could be pointed directly at Iran." Israel is only ten blocks long. Why would they destroy themselves? Jews have a long history of survival in the face of great odds. IN Christ, a jew who incidentally is STILL alive and look what they did to Him!
And vise versa! China has lend an enormous amount of money to America. America has a national debt of 3.4% of the Gross Domestic Product, which is about 400Billion USD. Latest figures calculate a 3.6% of the GDP. And guess what country lends the most to America; China. You are only partially right when you say that China is economically dependant from America. Since China has lend America in USD currency, they benefit from a stabile USD currency. However, America is more dependant from China than China is from America.
The problem of an invasion on Iran (besides the war itself ) is the duration of such war, the casulaties on both sides (Iran has an large army, a relativlly good air force) is the economic factor. Regardless how long i´ll an invasion last (iran is powerfull but the UN, or the USA itself can face up to it) there ´ll be an oil crush a reecession all over the world. And the worse thing is once you start it you´ll have to finish it, no one can leave an invasion half way, for politc motives and for the well beeing of the citizens of an invaded country. Imagine if after saddam was caught everyone leaft iraq...it would be the total caos and a long lasting civil war.. I hope there´s a diplomatic way of solving this problem...i really do for the well sake of us all.
