I would like to ask that suppose I have domain that www.xyz.com and I want to target keyword "sample", "sample 1" and so on, so which seo/sem strategy I should apply for that? how should I get unique visitors and most inquiries from SE's.

Basic SEO to do list:
-optimized site (title, meta, etc)
-fresh content as often as possible
-new incoming links as often as possible
