Is it better to use JUST the keyword phrase as the title or does it matter? For example, if I were targeting big blue widgets should I just use big blue widgets as the title or big blue widgets at discount prices Does the keyword density in the title matter? Thanks
Either will work. As long as the keyword is present in the title it should be fine. Also do not stuff keywords in the title for it may look spammy. Just once per keyword phrase.
keywords density is count on total content word like you site have 100 word content and you use XYZ word in content 7%times so that means your keyword density is 7% in content
You can use the best possible keyword or key phrase in the Title portion of the website so that you can populate your targeting keyword in the most crucial area of the website.
Thanks for the answers guys, but that doesn't address the question. Does the keyword density in the title matter? Is this like page keyword density where it should be kept at a certain percentage? For exact match on the page I try to keep it at 2% or less, put it in the header tags, etc. But with the title tag is there a percentage that works best. 100%, 50%, etc. I've seen exact match title tags get on Google's first page, but I've seen more where the keyword density of the title is less more often. But then again probably less people have SEO'd the exact phrase match. Thanks
Should give you a small boost if it's exact match. But you may not get a higher CTR like that, necessarily.
I think you should keep keywords in your title its very beneficial for your website and you will targeted your keywords easily..
Keywords in title only preferably but it is not possible most of the time. Keyword density no more than 2-3 percent doing it blindly with no information is a good start but ... What I mean by that blindly comment. You are competing with other sites in a niche. Most niches will be about 2-3 percent. Your only competitors you should be concerned about is on the first page of the SERPS. Once you start seriously analyzing your true competition you will find that 2-3 percent is usually the norm. If you research some very competitive phrases you will find that keyword density of 2-3 percent is too low. I have seen it as high as 9% on page one for some keywords. If you can align your on page keyword density with those that you are directly competing with you should find your self higher in the SERPS.
Definitely put the keyword in the title. Some search engines still put weight on this in indentifying what keywords for which your site should be ranked.
what are your theories on changing the title tags with seasonal businesses? How does this affect SEO?
A good practice is to have a compelling title. You are not only dealing with search engines but to your customer as well. this is much better
Hi Dear, As per Google advice for title tag is it should be less than 60 character less and more descriptive and informative...if you take these advice in consideration then it will sure help....
Big Blue widgets is better is you want to rank for it. but Big Blue widgets at discounted prices is better if you want to optimize for some more keywords. Until you are not in a very strong situation, try hunting to optimize for many long tail keywords.
Much better if you'll put other keywords in your title tag asides from that. (don't over do it, limit it to 65 characters only)
In my limited experience, I have found it best to use your key words (top 3) to front load the title tag. That is your top 3 key words first, followed by less relevant description. Those same three key words should be in your H1, H2, bold, italics, links etc. but in variations of order, cap/non-cap, separated by dashes etc. Just like variations in backlink anchor text.
