It is not only in Islamic countries that rape victims don't report the crime and I think while the rape stats specially in USA is very high, it is still the tip of the iceberg. It is stupid to deny that rape is much more uncommon and less frequent in Islamic countries that other countries but there is a logical explanation for it. For most rapes to happen, it requires that man and woman to be alone and woman to be to some extend vulnerable. In Islamic countries man and woman who are not related cannot be alone together and there is very little alcohol drinking which puts women in vulnerable position while in western countries man and woman can be alone and drinking is very common practice on dates. The other factor is that family relations is not that strong in western countries and the rapist knows that rape is not reported or in the worst case he need to deal with police and courts. In many Islamic countries because of the unwritten social rules, it becomes the victim's family obligation to kill the rapist in order to protect the family honor, therefore most men in such countries will be very afraid of the consequences of their action.
The combination of the above 2 factors results in much lower rape numbers than western countries.

Gworld, I'm well aware that the number or rape crimes reported (tragically) is only a small portion of those actually committed, however in a country where the victim can actually be physically beaten for being raped it is only natural that the percentage of reported incidents drops compared to places where the worst a victim faces is reliving their ordeal in court.

You also have to consider that in Islam it is permissible for a man to rape his wife; they don't believe it is rape!

You watch to many movies maden by Those up there, to show Muslims as bad people, my suggestion is you to watch The Arrivals.
About me being idiot, thanks. If your parents are a little Chatolics, they would do that thing when the child is born, I don't know how you call it, but you would have middle name etc.

intro, you don't know me at all - the only movie I've ever watched that made Muslims out to be the bad guys was Fitna, and that was long after I had already experienced life around Muslims. The reason I ended up watching Fitna was that I have a keen interest in Mr Wilders, and was due to speak with him - I wanted to be able to discuss his movie.

I do have a middle name, actually - that is common here. Again, I wont discuss my parents religious beliefs as I don't see the point here - I was born an Atheist however and have never been a part of any organized religion - make of that what you will.

Awins - this thread isn't about Muslim women - there is no issue for you to answer; go and create your own thread if you wish to make some kind of issue - please go and read the OP again if you are still confused. I will also remind you that just because you are happy being beneath males in your life that many others are not, and that many people, such as Rebecca, Stox and myself all believe that no society, culture, religion, country, etc. has the right to make women second class citizens and to impose different laws on them than on males. We also ALL believe firmly that spousal abuse is wrong.

Lastly, you never answered the question - after being provided with quotes and another (male) Muslim here saying it is so, are you still trying to lie and pretend that the Qu'ran does not say men are superior to women?

You never answered - "after I had already experienced life around Muslims"..

Alexis, I will answer you on that question, and don't ask it again pretending you didn't read - In Islam, male is superior then woman in working way, that means man should care and work for family, get money, learn kids how to be strong, while woman gives them hearth lessons. That doesn't mean woman can't do what she want, if you think he can rape her, do what ever he want, you're wrong - for example my mom is chef in our home, what that means - father can't tell her what to do, and that's in all my country, if you think they should get devorced for one little fight think again - they are thinking about kids, and I'm sure that is the reason in other religions why some woman's wont devorce.

Nobody is buying your lies. It is sad how manipulate and abused you obviously are. May Allah have mercy on your soul for your lies and hatred

Whoever you are, you no right to speak of Allah. It is so pathetic to see how you think I am manipulate or abused. I am a professional woman, I am happily working as lecturer and married soon. Shame on you, whoever you are, for your lies about Islam and think Muslim woman abused. I hope Allah s.w.t. will have mercy on YOUR soul for your manipulated and evil ways about Islam. I pray that your children and grandchildren will convert to Islam, inshaallah :)

I can't beleave, who sent you that?
About children, I only hope they will not be like that person who sent you, as Muhamed a.s. said something like this - Be good with everyone, not only us (muslims), help them like you would do for your family. ;)

intro, I wasn't asking you that question - it was directed at awins. (Read the post again.) If you asked me another question I didn't answer it was only because I missed it, or you didn't use a "?". I'm pretty open provided the question is relevant to the discussion to answering almost anything.

Also when did I say people should get divorced over one little "fight"? Unless of course he hits her, even in the Muslim way of "gently, not on the face, not to hurt her", etc. Then yes, she should kick his ass out - but no, over simple little arguments I have never, ever said people should get divorced - I don't know what on earth you are talking about.

jss4ever - a good quote, although I prefer "Not all Muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslims."

Awins - I didn't red rep you if that is what you think; for the record I don't red rep anyone. (I'm assuming you think it was me.)

Also, I don't know what "lies" you are referring to - perhaps we simply disagree about something and you are getting overly emotional? This is politics and therefore we are both entitled to our opinions, however if you believe the Qu'ran doesn't say something it does (4:34) then really there is no point debating with you because you wont pick it up and read it to check.

As to the rest, yes, I actually do have a right to think and say whatever I like about Allah - my country has something called free speech. If I think that he doesn't exist I have the right to say so, if I think Mohammad was a filthy pedophile who should have been castrated before raping a 9 year old girl - well hell, I can say that too. :D

intro - awins didn't receive that, she was saying it to me - I'm sure you don't find it inappropriate being said to me as you might to her - but there you go.

I do wish Vebtools was around, he seems the only one to make any clear and concise points, and while I disagree with them I can still respect that he isn't saying such sick things as "may your kids be Muslims". Lol. (As I said earlier neither me nor my partner want kids in a world so misshapen as this.)

I am not talking about the reported numbers, I am saying that rape is much less common than western countries. Let me give you another example, the number of car accidents in LA may be is 100 accidents for every 100,000 of population while stats for car accidents in some remote part of Africa can be 1 accident for every 100,000 of population. Is the difference because the car accidents are not reported? No, it is because there is much less cars in Africa. The rape in Islamic countries is much less than western countries because it is much more difficult to commit rape in those countries.

I'm inclined to disagree gworld, it is far easier to get away with rape in "those countries".

Of course car accidents are fewer where there are fewer cars as rape happens less with less people in one area.

However if you refuse to acknowledge rape is less likely to be reported in countries that blame the victim, this debate can't possibly go anywhere.

Who raped 9-years-old girl? I'll try to step out from this thread, because you are repeating the same question over and over again, maybe you should dedicate some of your time on internet business (look at your post count - repeating the same helps, and you are only 2 months older then me on this forum).

I am not saying that there is less rape because there is less people, I am saying that there is less rape because there is less opportunity. Rape mostly is a crime of opportunity with exception of serial rapists that actively seek their victims. If you change the social behavior in western countries and don't let men and women be alone together and take away the alcohol and drugs from young people environment then you will reduce the number of rapes by half or even more. It has got nothing to do with religion, it is a simple logic.

intro, Muhammad raped a 9 year old child. He married her when she 7 and raped her when she was 9.

gworld, I know what you are saying however given the number of times rape is committed by a friend of the family or a family member themselves the opportunities do not differ all that greatly from the the free/Western world.
I can't believe you think that implementing rules here saying you can't drink or be alone with a female is a good idea - I wish Stox were here, frankly.

First of all what Muhammad did is quite different than what the definition of rape or pedophilia is today. When you try to use something like that for political purpose then you lessen the importance of pain and suffering which is suffered by real rape victims. You are talking about the time that average age was in 20s and 30s so how long do you think people should have waited before getting married or have children? Do you know anything about the life expectancy or marriage age through history?
Have you ever been to an Islamic country or worked and lived in one? The traditions are very different and there is hardly any time that a woman is left alone with a man for a rape to happen unless you are talking about incest. I never said that we should implement those rules in western countries since I think sex is beautiful and healthy experience that should be enjoyed by people but the same way that having cars and the comfort and freedom of driving brings car accidents, the free relationship between men and women unfortunately provides the opportunity for rapists to rape.

.... It does NOT lessen the pain of what you call "real rape victims". A child, a 9 year old girl, being raped is horrific. What on earth are you on man? How was rape any less horrible for the victim years ago, or when it is a child, than when it is an adult in today's age?

Have I ever been to an Islamic country, lived in one, worked in one? Yes, yes and half yes - I have never been one to regularly work, I do most of my things online and make an alright living that way.

I am well aware that things are different there in terms of customs; how else would a British woman be thrown in jail in Dubai after a Muslim waiter raped her? That would never happen here, thank God.

PS - I will state now for the record that while for a time being in a Muslim country it was NOT because I wanted to see the country, experience the culture, etc. I was there for less than a year because I needed to bring a loved one home. (They were at the time not being allowed to leave the country.)

gworld, the word "rape" has a broader definition than the narrow criminal one. You're stuck only on the criminal one and this explains your last post.
"In criminal law, rape is an assault by a person involving sexual intercourse with another person without that person's consent. Outside of law, the term is often used interchangeably with sexual assault,[1][2][3] a closely related (but in most jurisdictions technically distinct) form of assault typically including rape and other forms of non-consensual sexual activity.[4][5]"

focusing on the "outside of law", "interchangeably with sexual assault" sense of the word "rape":

No, it is not different at all.

We are talking about real rape victims. It is legal indeed, you are right, but it is still "rape".
I can't see how a 10 year old would dream to marry and have sex with a 50 year old man. can you?

    A) Try more like the 40s and 50s.
    B) The point is not just the age of marriage: the point is marriage of children with old men. This is how just "marriage" turns into "rape".

    Do you?

    Apparently she was.

True, but has absolutely nothing to do with the point. again. We are talking about "rape" in the wider, not just the criminal, sense.
Or you claim that 9 year olds can really give their consent to sexual activity? Let me know and PM me your address and I'll call the police.

True, kind of follows from the previous one, but has absolutely nothing to do with the point.

The point is not just the age of marriage: the point is marriage of children with old men. This is how just "marriage" turns into "rape".

    EDIT:
