Hello, I am the webmaster for an online store selling exotic dancewear. Our site has been up since last December, and has made a single sale in that time. I'm curious as to what I can and/or should do to improve my site, and thus my conversion rates? I'm considering using AdWords to advertise, and I have a $300/mo budget to work with, but I'm a little scared to start putting money into this until I feel the site is converting enough. For instance, I had (only) 48 uniques in the past week, all generated from Google and referring sites. The Google keywords that drove traffic were all highly targeted. This trend has been going on for a while. So I feel like some of these should be conversions. You can access my website at aloveforlust.com I'm not only looking for ways to improve the site, but also ways to further monetize and advertise. Any tips or guidance would be appreciated.
you wont make money no matter what you do without visitors arriving. 48 a week is nothing. Work on building traffic substantially before trying to make money. Look into SEO for example.
Well, I recently had a phase receiving 100-150/day, but it was the same then. Of course, all that traffic WAS coming from StumbleUpon, so it wasn't as valuable. All the same, I do agree with you -- I need more traffic. I just think that I need a more attractive store-front as well. There's no need in focusing on traffic if I'm sending that traffic to a site that never converts, right? They'll never want to come back. With that said, I feel like the site doesn't look half bad, it's just lacking SOMETHING that it needs to keep peoples' attention and direct them through the checkout process. That's what I was hoping all the pros here could help me figure out
are you selling retails or wholesale? May be you can use classified ads or media buys from some relevant websites.
Hey, Design your site more like that: amiclubwear.com Your site doesn't give the sexy feel you would expect from the store selling sexy dance wear. Also put the email optin and email your list once or twice per month with special discounts and promotions. After redesign I would promote the website on social websites. There is tons of girls on facebook (facebook is the most obvious but not the only choice of course) that would be interested in your products. I'd also maybe get in contact with some night clubs and buy advertising on their site. After I'd have some results with social traffic (it's free) I would consider google adwords and see how that goes. But until then I would just tweak the page until it brings results. But of course you need traffic (and lots of it) to get good statistics. Hope I gave you some ideas Best of luck, -m
HI , This trend has been going on for a while. So I feel like some of these should be conversions. You can access my website at aloveforlust.com I’m not only looking for ways to improve the site, but also ways to further monetize and advertise. Any tips or guidance would be appreciated.
You don't need Adwords, really. When you increase in sales, then you could "invest" in Adwords - my thoughts. You need way more traffic to be successful. Try SEO and social marketing.
This isn't a very specialized product, as a large percentage of the population are potential customers. You can splatter the ads to a wider group with AdsDAQ or AdBrite. Use the age selection options to target 18+ or 25+. You do have to compare your products to the ad network's definition of adult sites to see if you can even use the ad services.
Proson: we are selling retail at the moment. We plan on selling our own line of dancewear starting this year, at which point we will begin selling wholesale as well. Minanu Maen: Thanks for the detailed overview. I will try and review our layout. I guess it doesn't have an incredibly sexy look. I will definitely add an email optin -- should this be a little box on one of the sidebars, or would it be better to devote a page to the email list signup, and link to that page? Also, can you give any examples or point me to any resources about promoting on Facebook. I've done a tad bit by finding exotic dancewear groups on Facebook and messaging the members and adding them one by one. Is this a good method? Jontish: Thanks for the input, maybe I should put my $300/mo budget towards something else. What might be worthwhile in this regard? Thanks to you all, and I hope to see more replies! =]
You're right, it isn't very specialized. I'll look into AdsDAQ and AdBrite, like you suggested. Thank you.
