I am looking forward to setup a blog on my own domain. How much is it going to cost? Explain every cost that would be necessary to incur. Break up of cost is also encouraged.

I am talking about owning a domain name. Not free blogging. I am already doing free blogging at blogger.com
Besides wordpress.com dose not allow to place ads on free account.

it depends upon the domain, if you are going to register as .com then it will cost around $10, otherwise you can pay only 5 for .info or .net

It doesn't cost much!, Free if you go with blogspot or Worrdpress.com, buy a domain name and some hosting, should cost $15 or so, and install wordpress on it, and away you go!

    Definite costs include:

Domain: (.com, ,net, .org) $10 + $10 yearly for renewal
Hosting: You can get basic shared hosting at somewhere like GoDaddy for around $10 a month.
Wordpress Platform is Open Source = Free

    Other possible costs:
Premium Template, they range from $20 up to $100 (There are many free to use templates available.)

    That's the bare minimum.

Wanna add that a basic shared hosting will not cost you more than $10. Some host provider will give you around $5/month if you purchase them for one year. However if you have a ton of traffic, a basic shared host will not suitable for you. The solution for this kind of blog is either VPS or Dedicated Server. Using both VPS and Dedicated Server will be more expensive then a shared server. The price for VPS is deeply varied, from $8 - $120 or more, depending on how much RAM, Harddisk, Bandwidth, and CPU you are willing to have for your VPS. For Dedicated Server, the price will be even more expensive ($50 - $xxxx), but this is not recommended for common/personal blog. Shared Server or VPS will be suitable for most blogger.

If you have already use blogger that long, why don't just set up a domain name to blogger? so the only one that you need to pay is domain name. Blogger allow almost every kind of ads. This way you can save a lot of money and use them for SEO :)

I'd say you could start a blog for less than $10, here is how:
    1. Go to Name.com and register a dot com, find one using DotOMator.com, make sure you search for the latest name.com coupon code.
    2. Visit my signature, you'll see the $.01 coupon code at the bottom of the site. Click on Host Gator and enter your details.
Your total cost should be under $9 for the first month, then $9 after that.

Let me know if you need help!

The answer also should include your ability to setup you own blog. Are you able to install and secure your own blog? If not then you may consider paying someone to setup your blog.
If you are comfortable setting up your own self-hosted blog then yes it will cost you $1 - $15 for a domain and around $10 a month for hosting.

Always remember that having your own self-hosted site means as long as you can pay for hosting nobody can take your site down -as free hosts are well known for doing.

It is always best to host your blog on your own domain. Here is a little trick that I use...

Since a blog generally shares information I go over to GoDaddy and purchase a .info domain name for under $2 that you only have to pay for once a year. Then for the hosting I go to SecureSignup and purchase a monthly hosting plan for only $2.99 per month. And the thing I like about SecureSignup is that you can simply pay $2.99 per month without having to pay a big annual fee and you are not bound by any type of contracts. This is all done with about $5 and you get a lot of premium features. I create niche blogs and I have found that this is a very cost effective way to get started.

Well I host a total of 15 blogs with them, I have never had any problems, they have great features to work with, customer services is great, and I make over $1200 per month from each blog. It works for me and that's why I use them. And I haven't posted any affiliate links just direct links to the websites.

Hmm you make $1,200 from each blog? That's awesome! Now if you're going to share something like that, give us proof so that you don't look like just another spammer on the forum. And yes, you had affiliate links on the hosts.
