Im still confused on exactly how no follow links are good or bad. I out here reviewing site to send link exchange letters. a potential site has a now follow link to their links exchange page. But the links on the links page are dofollow links. So my question is..... Does the nofollow link to the actual links page matter as far as the major search engines are concerned?
If the page is indexed or has external links to it, it could be still be of use to have a link from this page. The webmaster of the site is effectively preserving his link juice and not wasting it on the links page.

No follow social bookmarking sites can provide you some traffic, Google is caching no follow links also. And Yahoo site explorer will consider no follow backlinks also.
No-follow's are worth getting on a high traffic website. Nothing to do with seo but some traffic may come directly from that link.
No thats fine as long as your link is do follow. It doesnt matter if the actual page has a no follow link anywhere.
You'll need to check if the links page is indexed within Google as well as whether the respective page has any page rank. The nofollow attribute would have been used for one of two reasons; to prevent any link juice being passed to this page throughout the site, which if implemented throughout the site would prevent the page from being indexed, making it worthless to you in your link building efforts. The other reason would be as part of an attempt to sculpt the spread of page rank throughout their site, adding nofollow to links to this page from top level pages such as the home page and category pages. So in conclusion, if the resource or links page you will be getting a link back from has a good PR and is indexed then it is worth something, however if you are simply swapping reciprocal links with this webmaster then this worth is pretty insignificant so I wouldn't really waste my time.
nofollow link mean the link that you put linkback to your destinated site is worth of no value. So SE will not count that link and credit that reputation. So, what you have to do is find dofollow site link and build backlnk then your site will be the most prefered search by google
nofollow says that hey google dont promote this link but u can still index it on your will. So search ranking wise, ZERO benefit but still helpful if a user clicks on it.
Google doesn't preserve the link juice on nofollow links it just throws it away. If enough people start doing this, this sneaky practice will stop.
Yes it does matter, they are trying to get you to give link juice while not giving any back in return. Stay away from them.
If a site where you are about to submit your link; receives huge traffic, then it is OK to submit your site even if you get nofollow link. There is a great chance of getting getting your website traffic increased. In short, it is good to submit your site to Nofollow blogs/directories/links if the site is getting big number of visitors.
