Hi, I wonder what is the best way to do link exchange. 1. Where should I go to find right partners for link exchange? 2. What kind of links should I be interested in? 3. Are there any tools that help us to build links using link exchange method? I own lots of big site from PR2 to PR6 and having a hard time to find good sites to partner with, as a lot of webmasters have lots of junk blogs with low PR and lots of outband links. I think one of the best ways to rank high is to place your links inside the content on secondary pages (related to your link). Good example of correct link exchange is: One of my sites is getting 80K unique visitors per month. 5000 of them come from related to my site partner. They just click on my link inside the article to read supplemental information. The most important thing is that they also stay on the site and search for additional information 5 pageviews per visit. It is the best so far link exchange/partnership for me. It is very time consuming and hard to find right partners. Tell me if you know tools or methods to do that more efficient. Thanks!
Link exchange is not efficient. It stopped being effective many years ago. Spend your time building links that actually make a difference.
So what are the efficient methods for link building? SPAM comments, submitting to the directories, posting expensive articles?
Blog commenting, forum posting, link exchanges, article submission, directory submission are all LOW QUALITY links - they count for very little. Editorially given one way links because of awesome content are worth considerably more. I happy for my competitors to spend there time on the low quality self promotional links ... I spend my time on links that actually make a difference. Spend time trying to get links that the search engines would not consider 'self promotional'
Quote from my original post: Basically you sad the same what I wrote. However I was asking about how it can be done in more efficient way.
Yes but what are those links you are not saying anything here just what not to do... Answer what should you do
First of all, congrats for you success in getting huge visitors. I am sure you are aware that Google can give you penalty if you do link exchanges excessively. It is not even 10% traffic you are getting from link partners. Personally, I would suggest you to build more one way links instead of two way link exchanges. You should see an increase in your traffic too by doing one way link building.
Yes, I absolutely agree that two way links are just too big hassle. It might work if two sites are about the same topic. In this case you can get targeted traffic and some search engine ranking.
We added a link exchange page to our website were people can easily leave their link and copy a code for leaving our link to their website. It seems to be working well so far, I am not sure how effective it is though in terms of seo.
Any type of link that can be easily obtained by anyone is a low quality link. If everyone else is doing it it loses value. Just like when more than one company produces the same product the value for that product goes down. Try finding who is linking to your top competitors website using Yahoo Site Explorer. Then send them an email explaining what your website site is about and ask them to take some time to visit your site. This may get you the better quality one-way links you are looking for.
Spend time trying to get links that the search engines would not consider 'self promotional' ? It's so hard to do it just before your site is not so famous.
I do not think that it makes the link lower quality if it is easily obtained. What makes the link low quality is low page rank of the website, irrelevancy of the website, irrelevant anchor text of the link and bad placement of the link on the website.
Use some tools , there are at least 2-3 good ones around wich will save your time, you can set many params and hit the button SEARCH, you will find thousands of places similar to your websites. if we talking about exchanging process only 3-way method.
I can recommend "WEB CEO" - it looks for link partners for you based on your keywords... And gives you an ability to send a link request form streight to the web site master... go to webceo.com. It is a great free tool. Plus, it is a good idea to check Alexa site rating and page ranking of the site you are about to exchange your link with, and try to research your competitors linking using the same web ceo tool. Good luck.
