How long does it take for the update to take to show your increase in search engine ranknig after pumping an article with backlinks. Does this affect take place within 24 hours or does it take months to show that it has moved?

It all depends on what article directory you use and how many backlinks, what type of backlinks, etc...

lets say 100 backlinks to article within two weeks. Article submitted to e-zine articles directory. BAcklinks from hi PR sites. hopefuly that would get shown in the search results right away.

That is an impossible question to answer. You would have to know how many times the bots visit the directory you submitted your article to. Then what about submitting to a directory that is "nofollow"? And on and on. And just because you write an article and submit it does not mean that your site will recieive any benefit at all.

I'm pretty sure 100 backlinks within two weeks will get you sandboxed.

It depends on the article you are writing.

The answer to your question is a function of how much competition is in your niche. If you are in a low traffic/low competition niche, then maybe weeks or months. If you are in a high to very high competition niche, then potentially years if you have high quality content. I know, the truth hurts...
