The inventor of the cell uses Android in his phone, but he uses a Motorola... called the "Droid". Is it a marketing ploy by Motorola ? You decide : LINK
Its not available anywhere. its still just a rumor without a release date. There will be better phones in the future, no one is arguing that point, its just at the moment the N1 rules the roost. There is even talk of a dual core HTC phone coming out sometime called the scorpion, but again its just a rumor with no official release date.
You are right about rumors, but the way it usually goes is that the phone is "leaked" online, and then shows up soon afterwards. The Supersonic is almost here now : LINK LINK Mobile is moving so fast that buying the "next" big phone means it is old within the year.
I got a droid eris because I'm on Verizon and the nexus wont be available for a while yet. It was a tough decision between the htc droid eris and the moto droid, moto droid has a better resolution screen and a physical keyboard but the eris is a lot lighter and was free compared to having to shell out $100 for the moto droid (new every 2 thing is why it was free). Lighter and cheaper won out for me. I like the heck out of it though and the soft keyboard doesn't really bother me that much. What I REALLY like is the remote desktop app that lets me connect into my home computer from the phone and actually use the home computer for things that don't play nice with mobiles. I also like the heck out of the remote droid app that lets me use the phone as a touch pad mouse and soft keyboard for my regular computers over the network. I have one of my computers hooked up to the big screen tv so sitting on the couch i can just use the phone instead of the big bulky keyboard and mouse. In my opinion the simple fact that android is open source and easier to publish apps will eventually kill the iphone for apps. Android is just taking off, I bet by the end of the year droid phones are going to take a pretty good chunk out of iphone's market share. Plus when was the last time Google put it's full might into something and actually failed lol?
"Sony Ericsson Xperia X10" coming soon. It looks like real answer to iphone, bigger screen, better camera, google apps and many other features.
