Why I should NOT get a .tv domain?

I have met two businesses that used a .tv domain, both changed it to XXXtv.com instead. They both told me it confused people when they say .tv.

Is this true? Should I just get XXXtv.com instead?

If you are concerned about people typing it in wrong & losing traffic, I would definately get both if you are developing the .tv name & redirect the TV.com to the .tv site. That way you are protecting yourself.

That's right. If you own a proper business, it's better to hold both xyz.TV and xyzTV.com.

If i have both the xxxTV.com and xxx.TV, which one should I put my site on and promote?

I am settled onto 2 names.

-FIRST which I prefer, I have the xxxTV.com domain but the xxx.TV domain is taken.
    or
-The SECOND I can get both xxxTV.com and xxx.TV but is less appealing than the FIRST.

    don't confuse your customers.

    Use 1 name only.

Wait? are they yours? or someone else?

If they are yours anyway, just show the name.
It depends on what the name is.

If they belong to someone else then, it does not make sense. Unless you are a cyber squatter.

I would get both and redirect one to the other.

I would use the .com as it seems much easier to increase search engine results.

    Cheers

    Wouldn't that dilute the traffic?

yes that would dilute traffic. and if someone was to google you and see two domains pointing to the same site, your customer would be 1) confuse 2) have a problem with remembering you next time they want to revisit.

So...its better to use 1 domain only.
Imagine seeing 10 different results for your site on google each with a different domain?
