Should I Enable Comments On My Site?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by Clientchuk, Mar 12, 2010.

Is it worth to enable comments on my site to attract people to it? I write articles but I don't want to get numerous links on my pages to unknown websites. I think they can do harm. But from another hand, I can increase traffic and interest in my articles... What is your opinion?

You can use plugins like Akismet, It will reduce spam in your sites. Enabling comments is a good way to increase traffic.

it depends if you post articles in high visaul areas, you will get increased traffic, but I personally found I got tonnes of spam, so much so I deleted all comments and I have a strict "no comment" policy.

You should definitely enable comments most of your articles if not all. Beside Content Being King, I think you, the website owner, needs to be interactive with their visitors if at all possible. Interaction with them would definitely keep them coming back. Especially if they have a question to ask you. Not only will they post the question, but they will come back to see if you have replied to it.

Also, only approve comments that are suitable to the article or website. Like said above, there are a few plugins out there that can and will eliminate spam and anything else of that nature.

I guess you can enable comments with moderation, or accept them only if they don;t have links..

When you site is new commenting will attract visitors, so allow it. But once your site starts to grow disable, or use stricter moderation to prevent spam

If you enable comments but set up your blog so that all comments are nofollowed and you don't allow HTML markup in the posts, the outbound commentor links can't hurt your. Enabling commenting fosters engagement, community, and return visits from people who participate in your discussions.

Enabling comments will surely help you out in attracting users. You can set comments to be displayed after they are modified. This will not harm your website and you can choose the website that you need to provide outbound link to.

Comments enables user interaction. I believe that aside from being just readers, the visitors of your blog need to express their opinion whether it is positive or negative. It can also attract other readers and increase your page view. Also, using Akisimet makes you safe from spam.

Comments are good source of conversation and you can know that lot of people are reading your article. If you want to prevent lot of unknown links you can moderates the comments that you receive. You approve those valuable comments and delete those useless comments.

I think it is better that you can enable the comments portion of the website. The comments whether it is positive or negative are best for the optimization of the websites........

It's not just beneficial in term of traffic, you can learn from the readers too. However, enabling comments and checking their links involve much more time and effort. Most of the comments are spam.

You can enable it or disable it is up to you, but comments have lots of spams.
